Silverbolt dodged a fresh volley from Devastator, narrowly missing Light Gate who flickered out of the space he was passing through an instant earlier.
"You all right, fly boy?" She quipped, reappearing.
"Just fine, thanks. But just running defense, as the humans call it, is getting us nowhere."
"We should just merge into Superion and send that rust bucket back to the scrap heap." Skydive said twisting past another barrage of laser fire.
"I'm all for it," Air Raid declared, banking sharply to one side. "but the 'cons keep firing on us whenever we get close enough to combine."
"The Seekers, we can handle easily, but Devastator is another matter."
"Target locked, adjusting main weapon energy burst to maximum. Devastator enemy. ENEMY DIE!" Omega roared, opening fire on his former friends as he charged into the fray.
"The big bot sure ain't happy." Slingshot said as Devastator pivoted to throw the large Autobot.
"Yeah, but with Devastator occupied and off balance, I think I know a way we can shake things up. You guys got tow cables?" Light Gate asked.
"Affirmative." Silverbolt said. "What do you have in mind?"
"Just follow my lead. Spike, hold tight!" With a whoop and a holler, the fembot fighter dove low as she fired her magnetic anchor onto Devastator's feet. "The bigger they are, the harder they fall." She grinned leading her fellow fliers in circles, drawing the tow cables as tight as they would go.
"All right, Light Gate, let's bring him down!" Slingshot called as the six jets cut their lines and flew up as Omega brought his manipulator arm around and landed a solid blow to one side of Devastator's head .
"Silverbolt, I'll do what I can to draw the Seeker's fire. This should give you the time you need to merge into Superion."
"Me Swoop help!" The brightly colored pteranodon dove in spewing fire from his beak.
"I let you go off on your own for five minutes and you go gettin' yourself into trouble." Grimlock laughed as he and the other Dinobots charged into the fray.
"Laugh it up, Grimmy neechan, but these cons have been trying to new holes in my chassis." She snarled, peppering Thrust with laser fire. "Where's Blaster honey?"
"Right here, Light chan!" Blaster called as Hound and Ratchet came flying over a ridge, Blaster riding in the back of the Autobot jeep.
Devastator reeled suddenly as the Aeiralbots completed the merger to Superion and landed a brutal strike that staggered the Decepticon combiner, but did not topple him.
"All right." Blaster growled as the remaining Autobots joined the fray. "Let's see the big bot stand up to some heavy metal. Ramhorn, eject and POWER LINK!" The cassette flew out of Blasters chest before linking to his back like a backpack. On his left arm, his hand transformed into a powerful sonic blaster.
"Just an arm cannon?" Light Gate asked banking away from Ramjet's feeble counter attack. "I expected something more..."
"Gate, I want to shake up one big bot, not three." Blaster said. "HIT HIM AND GET OUTTA THE WAY!"
Superion and Omega both drew back and punched Devastator in the faceplate before turning to opposite sides as Blaster raised his arm and opened fire, knocking the already unstable combiner off his feet, causing him to fall, kicking up a billowing cloud of dust.
"Decepticons! Retreat!" Starscream wailed as his fellow Decepticons dragged his battered carcass away as Light Gate peppered the retreating forces with laser fire. Devastator fired a blast at his bound legs freeing them before following his retreating allies.
"You wanna follow them, Gate?" Grimlock asked.
"No. I've had enough of them for today, and when Megatron hears about this, he'll be back." Light Gate responded. "You okay 'Bee?" She asked as she settled to the ground.
"I've been better, but I'm still rolling." The little Beetle groaned as he settled back into vehicle mode.
"He'll be all right until we get back to base." Ratchet pronounced. "We'll just have to take it slow."
"Hey Light Gate... no offense to your flying skills... but I'd like to ride with Bumblebee." Spike said, shakily disembarking. "I think I want to keep my feet on the ground for a while."
"Fair enough, Spike." Light Gate laughed as the group returned to base.
