"Accept what?" Hotaru groaned, straining to her her upraised arm in her socket.
"My gift." Horny leaned closer. "I can get you home, but only if you accept to be the master of these halls."
"But, I'm just a little girl!" Hotaru wailed. "I can't live in some dungeon!"
"But you must!" Horny bellowed, snorting into the young girl's hair. "If you do not, you will be trapped here forever." Horny caught her eyes. "Like me."
Hotaru could feel her blood make the surface of the crystal become slick. She was woozy from exhaustion, in pain from her arm and hand. She wanted to go home.
"I. I accept." Hotaru looked away, horrified at herself.
Horny snorted again. Was it enough? "Say it and mean it, Young One."
Hotaru turned, steel in her eyes. "I accept your proposition. I will rule."
The crytal thrummed, for the first time in years sensing a new master. Horny laughed, dropping the young girl to the floor.
He looked down at her indignant face. "Excellent, my Mistress. There is much you must learn!"
