Genma was unaware of his success as there was no apparent external changes and no detectable genetic changes given the multidimensional nature of the tree ship genome.
Well time to fall back on the training trip plan, thought Genma, At least there are no apparent side effects. Genma was wrong in there being no side effects or that nothing happened; though it took a while for him to notice. The two were well into the training trip when he realized that Ranma was eating more than he should have, almost five times what Genma himself did, and not showing any apparent weight gain or that his mass seemed to be off for his size and build. Despite these precautions, Ranma’s fear seemed to increase with every trip into the pit. On his fourth descent into the pit it happened.
This time began like the rest; Genma tossed Ranma in and closed the lid, the yowling cats attacked the screaming Ranma for the food, and Ranma begging his father to let him out. Half-way through the time Genma allotted for the pit sessions, a strange quite seemed to spread over the training area. An energy seemed to permeate the air. The lid to the pit vaporized in a flash of white light, knocking Genma backwards yards away from the training pit. A bright shining figure seemed to hover above the pit before shooting off into the sky.
Genma leaped to his feet, blinking away the spots on his vision, to see:
