There were psionics around, usually relatively minor single-Talent sorts. Though they could be quite powerful within two or three "spells" that they used.
Psi was a science, but it had been around since the Renaissance. Terms that might have seem outdated still prevailed.
Of course, there were those here who couldn't fit anywhere else.
Take ten year old Negi Springfield, a teacher at Mahoro starting classes that very day. With Thunder and Wind elements, he knew enough to make him a fairly powerful and adaptable psi.
Then there was a projective whose psychic form had survived her physical discorporation. Ninjas and samurai and others could be found as well. Many had minor Gifts.
