Standing before the door to Sir Integra’s office, Victoria Seras raised her hand to knock on the polished oak wood door.
“Come in Seras, we’ve been expecting you,” came the muffled voice of her employer and the lady of the manor through the door.
Turning the doorknob; Victoria entered the office walking in brisk military fashion, stopping three feet from the desk to halt and salute, “Victoria Seras reporting Sir Hellsing.”
The dark skinned, platinum blonde nodded, beside her was Walter her ever-trusting butler, and leaning on the wall to the right side of the desk was Alucard, Hellsing’s top vampire and secret weapon. “At ease.” When the Police Girl did so, Integra took the folder laying on her desk into her lap and opened it. “Tell me Seras, what do you know about the weapon called Metal Gear?”
Instead of a blank look which the young vampire often adopted when asked about Black-Op material, her face brightened a little. “Metal Gear is a bipedal walking tank with nuclear launching capabilities. The first reported Metal Gear was the prototype used in the Outer Heaven incident in 1995; after the incident was over with the remains of the weapon were shipped to Zanzibar Land and was used in the uprising that occurred in 1999. In 2005, another Metal Gear codenamed Rex was developed by Armstech and was being tested on Shadow Moses Island in Alaska and was then seized by Terrorists and later destroyed as well. Since the data and blueprints of Metal Gear Rex were leaked to the Black Market via the internet, nearly every nation or group in the world with the funds and technology are trying to build their own Metal Gear.”
Integra actually blinked at the notion that Seras knew so much about a tight-lip subject, Walter simply whistled, and Alucard…well he grinned manically as he always did.
“You seem quite versed in the history of this weapon Seras, I must say I’m impressed, and you also saved me the trouble of informing you.” Integra said in her normal business tone.
“If I may speak up, I am curious as to how Miss Victoria gained such knowledge of the Metal Gear.” Walter said, asking the unasked trivial question he knew his Mistress wanted to know but wouldn’t ask.
Victoria chuckled sheepishly. “Before I became a cop, a friend of mine from highschool was a hacker and got the information about the first two Metal Gear incidents and got me hooked, so I keep tabs on any news on the subject.”
“I think she’s more interested in the more who halted the Metal Gear more than the history of the machine itself.” Alucard spoke up, grinning all the while, his gaze looking at his subordinate for her reaction.
He wasn’t disappointed when she flushed slightly. “Um well, I guess you can say I am interested in Solid Snake’s history.” She scratched her cheek sheepishly.
”So you are a fan of the infamous Solid Snake Victoria?” Walter smiled, in jovial amusement.
“She has good taste.” Alucard chuckled. “Such a man, a human especially single-handedly taking down a war machine capable of bringing the world into a nuclear war is one to admire and respect. Not to mention his skills overall are…fascinating.”
”The soldier who makes the impossible possible,” Integra mused, “and even given the title Legendary. Impressive…if all of the rumors and tales are true.”
“Walter here has several legends in MI5 and many of them are true, and what of my own reputation Master?” Alucard retorted, still grinning maddeningly because he knew it’d drive Integrat…batty!
Integra gave the vampire a scowl, but she let herself fall into that verbal trap. “Point made, however last I heard was he was dead.”
"I doubt such a man would die unless it was on his terms." Alucard chuckled darkly.
“We’re getting off topic,” Integra said in a tight voice. She looked at Victoria. “We’ve received news that Millennium is building their own Metal Gear, an advanced model based off the Rex Gear.”
”Those Nazi bastards are building a Metal Gear?!” Victoria exclaimed, all police/military formality dropped at such horrifying news.
”Sadly that is fact; the intelligence came through reliable channels and our own networks.” Walter nodded his face devoid of his amused smile and now very grim. “As you said since the blueprints and data for Metal Gear was flooded into the Black Market, anyone with the funds and technology can attempt to build one.”
“And these Nazi fools have done so.” Alucard said simply.
“I’m sending you to the location of where the Metal Gear is being supposedly built to gather more intelligence and if the opportunity arises, destroy it.”
Victoria looked at Integra as if she had gone daft. “Sir Hellsing, me, alone? Infiltrate a Millennium base and destroy Metal Gear?”
“Those are your orders.”
“What about Master?”
”I have another assignment that requires my attention.” Alucard spoke. “Look at it this way Police Girl; you know a lot about the subject.” His grin widened, making him look even scarier if that could happen. “You get a chance to emulate your hero.”
”Since this is a stealth mission, you’ll be outfitted with sneaking and espionage gear. Any weapons beyond the M9 and survival knife in your OSP (operations support package), you will secure on your own.”
Victoria slumped, “but if I’m to destroy the damn thing, I’ll need my cannon. What will I use then?”
Integra adjusted her glasses. “Pray they have RPG’s or C4 on hand then.”
”Knowing them, they will.” Walter mused.
”You’ll be getting on a transport that will leave at 0800 hours. That gives you eight hours to prepare so start packing and gathering your equipment and familiarizing yourself with it.”
Saluting Seras replied. “Yes Sir Hellsing,” before letting out a sigh and leaving the room.
“…Why did they choose ME for this mission?!” She wondered aloud as she headed for her room.
