At the edge of each corner of the pyramid several feet away from the base rose four dark obelisks, occasionally outlined by crashes of lightening, sometimes the bolts of energy hit the peaks of the obelisk’s, other times they crashed harmlessly behind the pyramid adding to the aura of despair and terror the building radiated. Now a single large bolt of lightening struck down, hitting the very top of the dark pyramid, energy cackling from its spire and then shooting out to each of the obelisks, till the whole area was lit up in a web of lightening. The aura of evil seemed to expand, the air becoming thick with mystical power.
Deep within the catacombs of the pyramid stood a hall, in the center of which was a raised pool, four statues of evil and ancient gods stood guard over the waters. As the eternal storm raged outside and lightening struck the building, each of the statues eyes began to glow a deep blood red. The pool between the statues reacted; the dark murky purple waters began to bubble furiously as evil fumes arose.
Slowly a new sound was added to the boiling water, the deep grating of stone against stone. On the far side of the wall, opposite to the main entrance stood a blank coffin. As the sound of grating stone increased, the front of the coffin began to slide slowly aside. After a few moments a decrepit hand appeared to help the stone aside, ragged strips of cloth dangling from the withered skin. Slowly Mum-ra, the greatest evil of all middle earth, arose form his tomb. Awakened by the summons of his dark masters.
The hunched form of aged bandages, covered by a tattered red cloak slowly moved out of his tomb. His red eyes glittered with ancient malice, as his mouth open revealing a set of razor sharp teeth. His voice echoed across the chamber, as ancient and withered as his body, yet promising evil and torture beyond the keen of mortal man.
“What presence has dared to awaken the mighty Mum-ra from his eternal slumber?” He growled out as he approached the raised pool, his withered arm raising and silencing the bubbling water. “Let us see what new events require my knowledge of their occurrence.”
With that the elderly mummy stared into the pool. Slowly the dark purple murk began to change, until a watery vision appeared of a certain pigtailed boy standing on a hill near the berble village.
“A normal human? What sort of foolishness is this, I have more important... but wait...what is this?”
Mum-ra’s ancient eyes widened slightly as he saw the Thundercat signal appear over the forest, then narrowed in calculating cunning as the boys eyes flashed and he turned to run towards the source.
“He reacts to that accursed Lion-o’s signal like one of his wretched do-gooder thundercats...” Mum-ra mused. “Yet his form is that of a human, this should not be possible. Show me the REASON for his reaction!”
With that Mum-ra gestured imperiously towards the pool and the image began to change into a series of past events. A scene flashed of ancient Thundara. A young Jaga turned from a supposedly defeated a tall dark demon. As the scene progressed the demon reached out, eldritch energies forming on its claws to strike Jaga, as his back is turned. At the last second a wild dressed thundercat leaps in the way of the attack, looked to be of a bobcat linage if Mum-ra were to judge, being struck in the chest by the demons last attack which drew his screaming spirit from his body which fell to the ground dead.
Mum-ra watched in interest as the scene changed to a small black sphere which contained the soul of the thundercat killed prior, raging endlessly against the walls of its prison. Slowly the soul began to regress, becoming less human and more catlike, attacking its walls more and more mindlessly as time passed by. Then suddenly a single crack appeared in the prison, and the beast soul leapt through.
The scene changed again to a bloody and cut up child leaping out of a pit towards a fat man in a soiled gi. Then yet again it flashed to a series of pools inside a mountain range. Followed by a mirror, than a glimpse of a lake with a single feminine hand holding up a sword, and finally a large blue tunnel that lead to a clearing inside a forest.
Mum-ra pulled back and stroked his chin thoughtfully. “Interesting indeed. Now how can I use this to my advantage? Is it possible to turn this human whelp into a tool to destroy those blasted cats once and for all? This will require some thought.”
The image changed back to Saotome racing through middle earth towards the beleaguered Lion-o. Mum-ra grinned. “Mark my word though boy, you will aid me in one form or another. Whether as a pawn or sacrifice is all that remains determined. So says Mum-ra ”
As he stood a feral evil smile overtook his ancient face and he opened his mouth to let loose a cackling laugh that would have sent shivers down the spine of any creature who heard it. That is if there was any creature living inside of the evil Mummies domain.
Meanwhile leaping through a tree top, Ranma shivered as he felt an ice cold chill run up his spine. Shaking his head he ran onwards to destiny.
