This being a Mahora Academy where psionics were widespread, it was a little different.
Negi Springfield was still a ten year old prodigy from England, and still had drawn the assignment of teaching at Mahora Academy. He had attended Hogwarts and done exceptionally well, with his staff being a Psychokinesis (Wind) power focus.
So it wasn't quite the same. From the moment he arrived, speeding in by riding his staff - it was known that Negi Springfield was a high level adept. The degree of which was not known.
Some of the girls were considerably less powerful than others. Some were very subtle in their Talent. Many thought they were attending due to a mistake - as they didn't think they had any Talent in that regard themselves but might be special in another way.
This was the class that Ranma found himself in, alongside Umi and Fuu and Hikaru. A class where things were not always as they seemed, and in which some individuals seemed far more dangerous than others.
From arrival to attending class, Ranma had no time to consider what was going on or react to any of these events. The three girls who'd accompanied him were sufficiently exhausted that they were frequently yawning and not good sources of information. Even if they'd tapped into power stations, long stretches of psi activity still tended to exhaust one.
So Ranma didn't realize where he'd be staying, what was going on, what bath arrangements had to be made, or much about the class or instructor.
In addition, something Ranma didn't realize at first was that he had arrived:
