"Bye, ojii-san!"
Happosai smiled as he waved goodbye to his heir, who was on his way to school. The boy was coming along very nicely; while he wasn't as interested in the more... enjoyable... side of the Anything Goes philosophy, that would change quickly enough as he grew older, he hoped.
He looked around the clearing they'd been camped in for the last two months, while Ranma got some much-needed schooling. Sure, being out in the weather with only a small tent wasn't as comfortable as a house, but he was used to it by now. And it was nice to not be pinned down in one place if... err... the women in the area stopped welcoming his... appreciations.
It was kind of funny how quickly he had adjusted to having a student so young. He'd expected some resistance from the boy, and thought that he'd have a hard time keeping his patience at the first display of childish temper. Oddly enough, though, Ranma seemed to take just about everything in stride. While that made it easier on Happosai's nerves, it made it a lot more difficult to push the boy to the breaking point over and over -- a key part of training in the Art. And he'd expected some questions about his father; after all, for all Ranma knew, he'd been kidnapped.
Truly he'd been surprised -- and proud -- to hear that Genma often lent his son out, both for his own benefit and to train Ranma in various styles. He had given up all hope of teaching his erstwhile student any of the important lessons of survival and adaptation that were part and parcel of the Anything Goes Martial Arts. It was clear that, without his benevolent supervision, Genma had been forced to learn the lessons he'd been so resistant about under his wise teacher's guidance.
It also made introducing himself to his future heir much easier. After introducing himself as Ranma's father's old master, he convinced the boy that his father had given his training over to him for a time. He thought that soon enough the boy would question his story, and could soon be told the truth (in suitable format, of course. No need to throw words about like "abduction", after all, when he had simply been rescuing Ranma from his father's care).
Not that Genma had done a bad job, all things considered. Ranma had a strong foundation in the martial aspects of the art, and was very good at using the environment to his advantage. With the years under Happosai's tutelage, that foundation had grown apace with his physical growth.
"Ah, at this rate he'll outstrip Genma before he reaches his twentieth birthday, if not sooner."
Happosai grimaced. As gifted as the boy was in fighting, unfortunately, he seemed to be a slow developer in regards to his libido. He seemed to like girls just fine, but he couldn't even summon enough lustful energy to perform 'Avoiding the Rebuking Blow', let alone any of the other more advanced techniques Happosai had developed over his long life. And while he had no doubt Ranma would eventually overcome his flaws, he didn't want to wait for the years it might take for him to realize the power one could gain from the development of one's desires.
But, he supposed, he would have to be patient. After all, the boy was only fifteen... there was still time. Besides, it wasn't like there was any real shortcut. A pity, that; surely once Ranma was exposed to women in the right way, he'd learn the necessary lessons soon enough. Maybe if Genma had managed to summon a succubus, like he'd tried to do on that night he'd brought Happosai back from his imprisonment...
Happosai made a face and smacked his forehead. He'd almost forgotten -- he'd kept that scroll, and surely he could gather the necessary ingredients while Ranma was still at school. It would be perfect! He'd summon a succubus and give her the task of educating Ranma about women and lust, and then his heir would be truly ready to start learning the higher arts of the Anything Goes!
He rummaged around in his backpack. It was somewhere in here...
"Ahah!"
He held up the scroll to the light and squinted. Yes, yes, he had most of this with him... he could get some of that at a local store... the shrine a couple miles away had these. He suddenly stopped reading for a moment and sniffled, wiping a tear from his eye before sighing. Truly he hoped Ranma appreciated the sacrifice his master, and his master's most precious silky darlings, gave for his education!
