Accurate information on Succubae and Incubae is very rare. But what is known is that there are three types.
Type 1. They are rarely observed directly, and not only can the effects of their actions be mistaken for normal human deviations, but human sexual problems are blamed on them when they aren't even around. Succubae are nature spirits, without solid form. Unless the succubus makes an effort, they are invisible to the naked eye. They can pass through solid matter without difficulty, only stopped by living beings, which makes holding one for examination problematical. It is also the likely reason that Merlin, the son of an incubus, was imprisoned within a living oak tree. Succubae are excellent mimics, able to look and sound like whomever they want. It has been suggested that there aren't two separate genders, incubae and succubae, but one gender that can chose they wish to appear. Certainly it is possible for them to appear as the opposite gender, but no hard proof as to the number of genders has arisen. They feed off of the sexual energy given off by others, and need it, not only to survive, but to grow in power. It is unclear what abilities are inherent in the most starved succubus, and what are the results of empowerment by feeding. The feeding does not have to be injurious to the health of the victim, and can, apparently, be performed from a distance; although, whether for reasons of efficiency or personal preference, direct contact is preferred. Succubae have an influence on dreams in their vicinity, although, once again, we do not know how much of it is under their conscious control. They can appear within dreams, and control them, introducing ideas and concepts that were unknown, and likely unimaginable, to the dreamer. As nature spirits, they are, as a group, neither good nor evil, although individuals can be. To religious groups, who regard sex as sinful, they are, of course, regarded as unremittingly evil, hell-spawn, and requiring extermination. No affiliation with any outer-planar group has been recorded. Nothing is known about how they reproduce.
Type 2. The more dangerous kind. These are very much like type 1, except instead of feeding of sexual energy they feed off of a human's soul. They are also all lesbians, girls only. All they have to do is get you comfortable being in their presence, and then they can literally suck the soul right out of you if they kiss you. Sometimes they will seduce girls and suck out their soul, then leave without telling you. Sometimes they will tell you. And sometimes they will take a liking to you and make you into a succubus as well. Many young female summoners have tried this, the lure of immortality being strong. Some have succeeded, some have failed. All have lost their souls for eternity. Those who have failed try to gain some form of immortality so they will not go into oblivion when they die. Many have become vampires, demons, and other such creatures. An interesting thing to note is that this type does -not- have to devour the whole soul. They only need a little of it, and what's left can regenerate itself again. But most succubae of this type take the whole soul anyway. They see nothing wrong with devouring a person's soul. And they don't care that the girl whose soul they have taken will now be doomed to oblivion, no heaven or hell. Because of this it is advised if you accidentally summon this type of succubus use very strong wards and either banish it to hell immediately, or quickly kill it.
Type 3. These are very dangerous too. Instead of feeding off of sexual energy or soul's, they feed off of aura energy. They only need a little to survive, but sometimes they drain a person entirely of aura, and this then causes neural collapse and renders them completely hopelessly into living vegetables. The reason they do this is sometimes they find it 'fun' to do so then. This is the reason they are listed as very dangerous. Like the type 2's they can make someone into a succubus. This is why their numbers have lately increased so much this decade. Most young girls summon them to see if they can be made into succubae as well. Unlike trying this with type 2's, the results are either they are made into one, or politely turned down.

Nabiki looked at the red-haired naked spirit and wondered exactly what she had summoned. The girl looked harmless, but Nabiki knew that appearances could be very deceiving. The girl could be some sort of monster or something. Or she could just be a harmless nature spirit.
Nabiki decided to do a test. "Wait just a minute. I need to do a test first."
"Test?" Ranma asked. "I don't want to take a test. I suck at math homework."
Nabiki blinked at that and said "Not that kind of test. I need to see exactly what you are. But I need your permission to do the spell that will tell me."
"It won't hurt or anything will it?" asked Ranma. She had a vision of test involving needles, bloodwork, and other such things. She shivered slightly at the whole idea.
"No it won't hurt. I promise you. It's really completely painless." said Nabiki.
"Well alright then, y'can do your test." said Ranma.
Nabiki picked up a crystal and held it near Ranma, and made some passes over it with her hand in complex ways, and then recited a spell to learn what Ranma was right now.
