This is how (former) homosexuals, such as Michiru, woke up finding their lives turned around in more than just one one way.
Akane and managed to find a way around that, while not looking for one.
Akane had exposed herself to instant nannichuan, resulting in a male body. The flu had been somewhat confused for a moment before doing what it was meant to do and reprogramming Akane so that she was a proper mating partner.
So suddenly, Akane is a girl-crazy guy chasing her sister through a feverish haze until the pair of Tendos stumbled onto some kind of fighter's tournament or party or something and Akane had lost Nabiki
It was a lot more half-aimless searching before Akane ended up...with Akane.
At some point, after male Akane had done her job and laid her seed, warm water spilled upon the male Akane resulting in two female Akanes (Akane Kusanaga and Akane Tendo). By this time, the flu was on its way out of both of them (since the deed had been done) and too weak to rewrite anything. Akane Kusanaga, on the other hand, was cognizant enough to catch the shape-change and quite firmly filed this girl's body away as belonging to that man.
So, Akane Tendo woke up, finding herself attracted to female flesh (probably one of the few such women in the area) and with a pheromone system that was pretty much advertising her as male to the local women (whatver her current form). Basically...she was very confused.
"Uh, what's going on?" Akane asked, finding her eyes dragged to the other Akanes's chest almost against her will.
"You and I did the wild thing last night," the other Akane said simply enjoying the reaction it brought out of the other girl. "What's your problem. You were quite a man...and could you go back to being a man please, this isn't...displeasing...but..."
"Th...th...that was only a one-shot deal!" Akane protested.
"You mean that you're a woman?!" the other Akane said, surprised. She reared up and noticed Akane's eyes reflexively follow the bounce of her motion. "Seem pretty male to me."
"Well..." Akane said, almost dazedly. "I know where to get more..."
