"At least a cyborg," Hyoga replied, "though we can't exactly be sure. What we do know is that she has parts of her body that are artificial. The rest are either human flesh, or are really damn close."
"How can we be sure?"
"Direct physical examination."
"I know. So we can't be sure if she's just got add-ons or has gained a whole new body."
"Either way, we can be sure that she'll be gaining all new abilities that we may not be able to control," the Vice Commander said, ignoring the way that his boss was introducing his face to the floor again.
Usually when she opened her eyes as she woke up, Misato had to deal with fuzzy vision and an aftertaste of alcohol on her tongue. She tended not to get streams of words across her field of view, nor did she have a list like one got when one started up a computer. That alone did much to make her concerned over what had happened to her.
But the fact that the bed railing bent as she squeezed it to help push herself up made her realise that something was certainly off about her. Checking herself over, she saw that she still felt like flesh and blood on the outside, though it was a bit too perfect to be true. After all, there wasn't a blemish on her, including the scar she'd gotten during Second Impact. Not only that, but she felt better than she had in years, and had to actively try to remember the aches that years of life had given her. Adding in a bosom that was firmer and fuller than she had, and the rest of her well curved form, she found that she was definitely not the same woman that she'd been when she'd fainted in the control center.
Glancing over at the other beds, she saw Rei and Asuka laying there, which made her breathe a bit easier. She'd been worried about them before she'd lost consciousness, and knowing that they were still alive made at least one worry vanish. Of course, she did have to wonder why they were still sleeping, and how Maya had joined them.
Shinji was absent though, and she wondered why. Something made her push to find that out, almost as if it was an imperative, but nothing would have had to force her. She already cared about his safety, health, and well being, and she was concerned as to what his absence might mean. Hopefully she just hadn't seen him, since his lack of appearance could mean a lot of things, some of which were not good at all.
Biting her lip, she slid off the bed, and stood up while:
