"What?" Seras questioned, "Why? You just consumed more blood in the last hour than I usually do in a week!"
Kain's eyebrow rose, "Is that so... I see the thirst does not dog you as it does I..."
Seras yawned, and added, "Besides, I think we both need rest"
"Rest?" Kain wondered, "I have not felt the need to since I became a Vampire."
Seras glanced at him, "You haven't slept since you were turned?"
"No..."
"No wonder you're always needing to feed..." Seras shook her head. "Kain, has your thrist been getting greater and greater?"
He nodded, "Yes... how did you know."
The girl laughed. "I see some things are constant!"
"What?"
"Someone once told me that when Vampires do not get enough sleep their thrust becomes worse and worse until they either pass out or go insane from hunger for blood..." Seras paused for a moment, "Or Walter could have just been trying to scare me into going to sleep, but it seems like its true..."
Kain grunted. "Very well. We shall travel to the site of my crypt."
Seras blinked, "How far away is it?"
Kain scowled and walked behind Seras, embracing her from behind and holding her to his body.
"What the hell are you doing?"
Refugium...
Seras gasped in surprise as a wave of vertigo overcame her, and the Pillars of Nosgoth blurred into a dank and depressing tomb. It was a large room, almost excessively so, with one corner dominated by an open stone sarcophagus. Behind it was a mural of a striking young noble man with dark hair in armor of white and gold.
"What the bloody hell was that?" she exclaimed and Kain let her go.
The Sanctuary spell. It enables me to travel to my crypt, where the soil of my grave provides me respite," he replied.
"Your grave..." she muttered as she looked to the image of the noble. It must has been Kain in life.
She could see the resemblance, as well as how much Kain had lost in the looks department. In life he had raven black hair, black eyes, and light skin... rather talk dark and handsome really, but now he had white hair, yellow eyes, and his skin was an unhealthy yellowish green pallor. Even his armor had changed color, changing from white to black as if to exemplify his corruption.
"Bloody hell," she muttered to herself, "And I was irate when my eyes turned red..."
"Yes..." Kain muttered to himself as he began to remove his armor and lay it to the side, "Unlife has been far kind to you than I..."
He paused as he removed his breastplate looking down at a linen shirt covered with dryed blood. There was a matching spot on the back of the shirt, and a small cut on both sides of the shirt, in the center of both stains.
"Damn my foolish kin. They have a mural erected but leave me in the same shirt I was murdered in?"
Seras shrugged, "Guess they thought you wouldn't mind where you were going... its not like they expected you to get back up..."
"True, but now I find myself longing for a change of clothes..."
Seras smiled and glanced around the barren room.
"So where do I sleep?" she wondered.
"You could always 'borrow' a coffin from one of the other 'residents'," Kain replied sardonically. "I doubt they will mind."
Seras gagged, "You are telling me to dump a corpse out of its coffen and sleep in it?!"
"Yes, that's precisely what I am telling you..."
Seras shook her head. "No way. That's disgusting. It's morally reprehensible, and I don't even want to imagine the smell..."
Kain smirked. "Then you could share my bed..."
Seras blushed bright red, quite a feat for the undead. "No bloody way!"
Kain shrugged as he finished stripping his armor off, laying it next to where he had placed his weapons and their magical loot.
"Suit yourself..." he replied.
Seras paused for a moment. "Are there any towns near by?"
Kain's eyebrow rose. "Yes, there is one town five miles to the north, it is called Zegsturhl. It was where the bloody deed of my murder took place."
Seras winced. "I'm sorry Kain."
"Your pity is unwanted, woman," Kain replied with a growl.
"Its not pity you bloody oaf, its sympathy!" she replied with a growl of her own.
"Are you planning on buying a coffin there?" Kain asked her.
She nodded. "Among other things..."
Kain smiled viciously. "Then you are in luck. Their bandit problem has recently been dealt with."
Seras nodded and laid her own pack on the ground. With a sigh she pulled out her soiled and damaged Hellsing uniform.
"I'm going to have to have this repaired," she though to herself as be bundled up a large number of coins.
Kain yawned and laid back in his coffin. "You do that, but I bid you good night..." he paused, "or rather, good day."
With the grind of stone on stone gain pulled his sarcophagus closed leaving Seras alone.
Seras yawned. "I'm getting sleepy myself... but I think I have several hours before I need to rest. I can be back in time."
