ZIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIP!
There was the sensation of great speed, flashes of colors, and then they were elsewhere.
They had expected a dark castle, dank caverns, something like that.
"AND HERE THEY ARE - MODERN EPIC HEROES - THE SAILOR SENSHI!"

"You go!"
"They are modern einherjar! Is good, yah!"
"Mangy old man! Valkyries of the modern age!"
"No, no, it's epic heroes!"
Staring around them, the Sailor Senshi tried to figure out what was going on as this didn't look at all like what they had been figuring was the case.
This was the inside of some medievalistic tavern, where some really tall and powerful looking individuals had gathered. All wearing pseudo-medievalistic clothes that might have been designed by Jack Kirby. There was a banner "Welcome Sailor Senshi!" over there. There were pictures of their various favorites showing - including one of Sailor V posing with her red mask and laser pistol...
"WHAT THE HECK IS ALL THIS?!" asked Luna as she arrived.
"Uhm, maybe this isn't a youma base?" said Artemis, thinking the feel was way way WAY off.
"It has to be a youma base," said Luna. "Right Ami-chan?"
A big fellow who looked like he lifted engine blocks in his spare time came up to them with a large tray stacked high of what was obviously Western food. "If you'll come this way, we've got a table for our guests of honor."
"Uhm, pardon me," said Sailor Moon, holding up a hand. "We're here to rescue a kidnapped guy... that food really looks good though."
Mercury groaned and hung her head at the apparent change of focus.
"Who? Oh, you mean Ranma Mizuno, right? He's training in new fighting techniques so he can help his sister fight off evil ettins and helspawn and the like," said the apparently happy fellow. "First party. Then you can check up on him."
"Well, maybe just a little snack?" suggested a drooling Sailor Moon as her eyes continued to linger over the selection of foods.
Ranma jumped back and frowned. He had this odd feeling. Almost as if Ami were about to do something... not terribly smart or something.
Luna and Artemis left the party, going on a spy mission - because as Ami pointed out - nobody paid attention to two cats wandering around.
The first toast was to their victory over the evil helspawn! Well, they could hardly refuse, could they? Had to keep up the appearance of being taken in by their ruse. Especially after Sailor Moon began choking from trying to inhale her food and having to wash it all down.
The second round was a toast to their health! It would be impolite to refuse it, right?
The third round was to Ami's brother's success in his quest to become someone who could back his sister up in a fight. Such a good brother to understand his sister's need to prove herself in mortal combat and willing to take a supporting role and such! VERY Viking to understand the importance of warrior's honor and family duty and so on. They couldn't refuse that now could they? Mercury drank pretty heavily and apparently with great embarassment.
Their host confessed that while they might have had a welcoming party for modern heroes/valkyries anyway, these were Aesir and Vanir and einherjarl and valkyries - having any excuse for a semi-rowdy party was going to be seized on.
So the fourth round was to salute all the assembled beings for this fine party, the toast being started by Sailor Venus and enthusiastically supported by most of those present.
Nobody involved was quite sure what their fifth round was toasting to, as those involved were using a very potent mead and they were big tankards and nobody wanted to be outdrunk by some teeny tiny valkyries in short skirts. There was such a thing as pride you know.
About the time Minako got someone to materialize a karaoke machine, things were beginning to get a little out of hand.
