Nodoka was quite obviously intrigued by the idea. Cute Chinese grandbabies, proper Japanese grandbabies, and maybe a few other grandbabies around. Definitely something to ponder.
Akane finally lost the numb "she couldn't have really suggested that" stunned feeling. "Are you freaking nuts?!"
"Well, Shampoo no happy about either. Beats going home in disgrace or take own life to avoid dishonoring family..." Shampoo was still reluctant about the whole thing. Especially because Hammer Girl and her had never really gotten along.
"No way! No! Absolutely not!"
"That's insane," said Nabiki, nibbling on a rice cracker. "Having to kill yourself because you failed to get a husband or kill some strange girl. It's your own barbaric laws, after all."
"Any more insane than a seppuku pledge unless someone returns as a 'man among men'?" Cologne's voice was pleasant.
Nabiki was about to reply, thought about it, then nodded. "Good point."
"Are you all fucking nuts!"
"Akane! Your language," chided Kasumi.
Akane went to sputtering about this like a pressure cooker about to blow.
Ranma had somehow realized that no matter what he said, someone would take it wrong. So he had taken the simple measure of fainting after the idea had been brought up.
Ukyo was merely stunned.
"What's your angle in this, I thought you were supporting Shampoo being the sole marriage to Ranma-honey," said Ukyo as she edged away from where Akane continued to splutter.
"I am supporting my great-granddaughter, assisting someone of talent in the Art, and looking out for the interests of my village," said Cologne. "Fighting skill but more important - fighting spirit is required of new adoptees into the Amazons. Miss Tendo and yourself have both demonstrated this and as Shampoo is no longer violently opposed to the concept - it is something to consider. Anyone wanting to go through the trials and become a member would then be free of Kiss Of Marriage or Kiss Of Death pledges. Any questions?"
