Kitty smiled sadly. "He's becomming more and more convinced that mutants are the next step in humanity and is determined to prove it."
"That doesn't explain how this happened to you."
Kitty closed her eyes and shuddered. "Jean had summoned the Phoinex Force and was going to use it to stop Professor Xavier. However, he somehow managed to learn some magic."
"At the time, me and the other eight he had chosen, were not aware of his true intentions. He managed to put a piece of the Phoinex Force into the nine of us and left Jean with only a fragment."
"Go on."
"Professor X held up a ring and was going to use it to entrap Jean. However, something went wrong. Because we all had a piece of it in us, we were all affected by the spell. The sudden explosion scattered all ten rings far away from Professor X. Whoever gets all ten had total control over the Phoinex Force."
