Carter had the grace to blush, but still attempted her best to look professional. "Yes, sir."
"At least we can be sure that Sam is healthy," Daniel murmured.
Teal'c raised a brow. "You speak the truth, Daniel Jackson."
"And it even added to her."
"Which is what many, including the Goa'uld and others, would like to have."
"Thanks, I think...," the blonde catgirl replied as she sat down mainly on instinct, and found herself wanting to curl into her seat. Oddly enough, it was rather comfortable, though her position was awkward.
But it wasn't as bad as it was for Jack, who found himself with a lap full of humanoid female feline. "Okay, I'm sure that someone is laughing at me..."
"Sir?"
"Nothing. I'm still in my chair, so, let's get on with the briefing. Okay?"
"If that's what you want Colonel, but I'm not about to have you all stay for long," the General told them. "SG-1 will be heading out on a new mission."
"A mission? Now?"
"Yes, Jack. A mission."
"Excuse me," Jackson inserted, "But if we go off world, won't we risk spreading this virus to who knows where?"
"That's true, and makes it fortunate that you're not leaving this planet."
"Sir?"
"SG-1 will be travelling to Tokyo to find out just what sort of situation we're dealing with. As it stands, we have plenty of theories, but not actual proof. We need solid facts, and at this point those are scarce at best. And if a Goa'uld, be it this Nirrti, or someone else, is involved, we have to locate them before they have a chance to do anything else. As the forward team, you have the most experience in dealing with our not so nice enemies, and their secret plans."
"I would have thought that you'd send a team that was more... secretive."
Hammond nodded at that. "We'll be acting on that, and the CDC is sending out a team to help find the initial carrier and the specifics of the disease. However, your experiences, and Teal'c's knowledge will help find or disallow any evidence of Goa'uld activity. You can translate Doctor Jackson, Teal'c knows their methods and technology, and Colonel O'Neill can lead."
"Am I supposed to stay behind?" Sam asked as she lifted her head slightly from where she'd been laying it against Jack's shoulder.
"No, Captain, but you're still working on light duty. You'll be support, and it will be up to you to initially analyze any evidence that they might come across."
"Is that really smart?" O'Neill asked, "I mean, nothing against Carter, and I'd always like to have her covering my six in a firefight, but she needs time to adjust... right?"
"Yes, but I'm not sure that it would be a good idea to separate you at the moment. Still, she can stay at a hotel room, while the rest of you go out and find her things to look over. And this is not a request. Understood?"
"Completely, General."
"Good. Now, I want you ready for anything. As it is, we don't have firm evidence of just what we're dealing with, so each of you, be careful."
The team nodded back at him, while:
