Shinobu just stared and wondered just how the landscape had wound up covered in various chunks of meat and sauce. Well, technically she knew, but the information hadn't really penetrated her conscious mind at the moment. She let out a little groan and frowned. "This is not how I expected to greet senpai and Naru..."
"Yeah, but the Mecha Tama Grill Sensation did make a big show!"
"You still can eat now."
"That's too bad..." the blonde girl replied, "but I made it to be big enough to make a lot of food, so we could have a barbecue. I didn't mean for this to happen."
"It wasn't your fault. Right... Motoko?"
Hearing her name mentioned, the raven haired woman stopped picking burger patties off of her shirt, and scowled. "That was not something that I meant to do either. I did not know that the grill was so close to my strike."
"But you were still the one who hit it," Mitsune drawled.
"Err..."
"And it made a real big mess... I'm sure that you won't be impressing Keitaro with this..."
"It was an accident!"
"They just happen a lot here, and you didn't do it on purpose. So we can't really blame anyone," Shinobu soothed.
"Besides," Mutsumi commented innocently, "if Shinobu hadn't been waving that book you write in around, you wouldn't have tried that move to get it."
"Ah-heh..."
"I know that I moved here just in time for the wedding," Ema Maeda murmured in an aside to Mitsune, "but I really am starting to think that this happens all the time."
"You haven't really seen anything yet," the shorthaired woman replied with a smirk.
"That's what I was afraid of..."
"Don't worry. Urashima survived it, and so will you."
The teenager let her shoulders slump. "I hope so..."
"Of course, now we'll have to deal with this before the party and..."
"WHAT'S THIS?!"
"Explain everything to Urashima. Hello, Mister Landlord."
Keitaro managed to get control back from before he'd blurted out his surprise and looked around at all the young women standing there. "What's going on here? Why is there meat decorating everything?"
"Well, you see we were trying to celebrate you two returning with an American style barbecue..."
"Only the grill exploded!" Su chirped. "BOOM!"
"I don't know why, but the scary thing is that I expected this..." he muttered in a tone close to a whimper.
Fidgiting a bit where she stood, Shinobu twiddled her fingers together. "We're really sorry senpai..."
"It's okay... I think. We'll just have to clean up the mess."
The girls reluctantly nodded, and then winced at all the food now littering the area, while:
