Of Skunks and Cylons: Cylon Attack! [Episode 138797]

by Gowcaizer

Introductions had been made quickly. The Princess was brought to a meeting room to discuss the matter with the representatives of the fleet. While Colonel Tigh handled matters in the CIC, Commander Adama accompanied the President and Vice President in the negotiations.

“First thing’s first,” Asrial began, “I want all the details of what’s brought you here.”

The three representatives of the Twelve Colonies did indeed give all the details – not even leaving out that the Cylons were made by man. They gave the details of the bombing of their worlds, the escape, all the way up to Boomer’s encounter with their fleet.

“I see. You’re in quite a bad situation. I guess I should lay out all our cards on the table. As you know, we’re very interested in your fleet’s ability to make faster-than-light jumps.”

“But as of yet,” President Roslin pointed out, “We’ve no clue what you have to offer in return.”

“What we’re offering is simple. A lasting alliance, assistance in fending off the Cylons, and our help in locating the Planet Earth.”

Unlike the Colonials, Asrial did not give all the details. Her people already knew where Earth was, but given that she had been told to get their cooperation no matter what, she felt it best to withhold that information. It could be for the better – Earth was an undeveloped(by Salusian standards) backwater planet and not the advanced safe haven the Colonials were probably hoping for.

“That’s certainly an appealing offer.” Adama commented, “How can we be sure you’ll keep your word and not disable our ships and steal the technology?”

A legitimate concern, Asrial had to admit. But that was something the Zardons would try. The Salusians weren’t prepared to resort to such methods. “You don’t… But let’s face it, you’ve got a better chance allying yourselves with us than you do facing the Cylons on your own. Let it be noted that my father is not the kindest man in the universe and would probably think nothing of leaving you to the whims of the Cylons if you refuse.”

“Indeed.” This time it was Baltar who spoke, “We’ve no guarantee that you can be trusted, but given our situation, we’re taking a risk either way. Commander, Madam President, I think it would be best to accept their help.”

“Action stations! Action stations!” Colonel Tigh's voice boomed through the ship, “Set Condition One throughout the ship! All Vipers scramble! Commander Adama to CIC!”

“Madam President, Dr. Baltar, Princess, I believe you should all return to your ships.”

As President Roslin and Baltar departed the room, Asrial made no move, “As ambassador to your people, it’s my duty to remain here. If possible I’d like to go to your control room with you to help coordinate my people’s ships.”

“All right. Follow me.”

----------------------------------------------------

Adama wasted no time in taking charge of the CIC, “What’s the situation?”

Colonel Tigh motioned to the tactical board, “A couple minutes ago two Base Stars jumped into the area and began to launch a Raider force. The Salusian ships have opened fire on the ships, and they’re slowing the advance of the Raiders.”

“Commander!” Gaeta called out, “All Vipers report ready to launch!”

“Launch all Vipers.”

----------------------------------------------------

“Okay, you know the drill,” Apollo sent over the tac-com from his Mk VII. “Split up and take on the Raiders, leave the Base Stars to the other ships. Avoid the line of fire from Galactica and the Salusians! Remember, you’ve got four extra ships to worry about this time. Starbuck, stay on my wing.”

“Copy that, Lee.”

And with that the Vipers jumped into the battle.
