"Of course I shall go, this is my chance to see the foul sorcerer gone for all time and thus to free the pigtailed beauty and Akane Tendo from his influence."
"All of you do read Japanese, right?" asked Quistis as she eyed the little cards she'd passed out. There it was in perfectly legible Japanese on one side, English on the other. Except for the one in Chinese she'd given to that girl with the lavender hair.
"Yeah." "Yes." "Yes, of course." "Certainly." "Growf." "BWEE?" "Quack!" "I am the very model of a modern major samurai, fair tour guide!"
"Okay," said Quistis, shrugging. Everyone knew what they were getting into. Not her problem. "Any questions."
"BWeee?" (Where am I?)
"Quack?" (Is there any chance I could get some hot water?)
"Growf?" (Do you serve drinks on this trip?)
"Are we there yet?" asked Soun.
"We're still tied to the dock, Daddy," pointed out Nabiki.
Gonyoo was the sacred waters, also the cursed waters. There were signs around the island warning of the curse. There were infrequent eruptions that splashed the water up in geysers, resulting in many areas with covered walkways. There were precautions taken by those who lived there.
Nonetheless, enough guys came as tourists or washed ashore or took the whole thing as a joke that there was a "New Woman's Center" in the single city on the island. Once transformed by Gonyoo, unless one had an overriding curse, that was pretty much it. Gonyoo could even override certain curses - any woman cursed by Jusenkyo's Spring Of Drowned Man would only have to bathe in the waters of Gonyoo to be free of that curse. Anything less than full immersion probably wouldn't work, but it was something.
Which wasn't much comfort to the ex-men who'd found out the hard way that the warnings about the curse had been real.
Quistis found herself wondering as the ship left the dock - was it just something about the curse itself that made guys discount it? After all, four of these males seemed to be cursed (three with a transformation curse, one with stupidity) and therefore they should take it seriously.
A black cloaked figure stood atop the roof. "Gonyoo has a new ruler? This cannot be allowed. I shall destroy their happiness!"
The figure looked at the girl carrying a burning pan of something outside. "That must be him. So that's the crossdresser, eh? That disguise shall do no good, for I am entirely too clever for that. Now to strike before he can reclaim his heritage! Since this boy is reputed to be not only a pervert and crossdresser, but a fair martial artist, it is a good thing that I had THIS."
Akane glanced up as some cloaked and hooded figure dropped down and thrust something at her.
