They'd make friends with Ranma, going out of their way to be nice to the confused boy. That way they'd be able to keep an eye on Akane and "pal around" with her more often.
"What the heck is this?" asked Akane as the teacher passed her a set of papers.
"Starting today, you've been signed up for a slightly different set of classes," explained the teacher. "There are skills you need to learn within your new role."
"One hour a day?" asked Yuka, as she looked over Akane's shoulder. "Wow. You get to learn to drive and weapons training?"
"Weapons? I already know how to use weapons," complained Akane.
"You'll need to learn at least the basics of firearms, Miss Tendo," said the teacher, going through his notes at the front of the room. "Even if you never use them yourself, you have to be familiar with their use."
"Guns?" asked Akane, sitting back down.
"Yes, you've been specified as a 'mamluk trainer' and personal bodyguard," said the teacher, glancing up. "There are exams you'll need to pass. As an educator, it's part of my job to see that you're prepared for such."
"Oh," said Akane, glancing back down at her papers. Each course was a couple of weeks long and covered some skills that she didn't have. Some she couldn't see the need for. Others... if she was to be training people in the bodyguard business she supposed she did need to have some familiarity with their other skills.
"Any other questions?" the teacher asked, knowing that there would be.
"What about Nabiki and Kasumi?" asked Akane.
"Your sisters will be given the opportunity to learn additional skills as well," said the teacher. "Depending on what their specialties are."
Ranma was nervous about a great many things in this situation. He'd heard talk, you see.
There were those who said that having certain (ahem) activities with slavegirls was morally reprehensible. There were those who said that their available time and energy had been sapped away by doing THAT (often with whispered comments when they noticed a child listening) with their slaves. There were those who had gleefully told children horror stories of how things could get. Really. It happened to a friend's sister's cousin!
Of course there was other talk too. Mostly comments he didn't understand.
Ranma had never been so glad for class to start.
Tatewaki Kuno had waited as patiently as possible for classes to end for the day. In the meantime he'd observed Akane's older sister and ruminated over the possibilities.
When he saw the base simpleton who was purported to be Akane's owner, the various plans he'd pondered snapped into focus. It was obvious now which approach he should use against this 'Ranma Saotome' to acquire what should rightfully have been his from the beginning.
