"Three surprise attacks that ended in failure!! This is simply unacceptable!!" Those were the first words to start off another meeting of the Obsidian Abyss Top Five. The meeting took place as usual with all of the members inside a private conference room on an Abyss battleship equipped with Mirage Colloid. "We lost one Laurasia-class ship, two CGUEs, six DoMZ suits, two DINNs, a bunch of GINNs and for what?!? Where's the bloody payoff?!?"
"Derek...please calm down before you blow a gasket. The good news is that we were able to obtain the three experimental GuAIZ suits although it was regrettable that we were forced to reveal three of our ZAFT moles. And I would also like to refine and sharpen the recruiting process. Lieutenant Bruin's report clearly stated how Barton had purposely fired his weapon on a school bus and we can't afford to have agents with itchy trigger fingers," stated Cassie, the lone female in the Top Five.
"I do hope that Lieutenant Bruin would be able to make up for her miscalculations in the next assault on the Kusanagi." Chuck took out a cigarette, placed it in his mouth before striking a match to create a small fire. He lit his cigarette and enjoyed the taste of nicotine in his mouth before putting out the match. "This time, the assault force would consist of three DINNs, three GINN WASP types, three GOOhNs, three ZnOs plus the last DoMZ and the Dagger prototypes."
"Hopefully, it should be enough. But if not, it'll simply mean more work for our Messiah and Desolation Messenger units. What is Steamhein's progress with them anyway?" asked Victor.
"His last report said that he had just finished creating the specialty shields with Trans-Phase armour for the Messiah and that the estimated time of completion would be around late December. The Desolation Messenger would need more time but considering the size of the machine, it's not surprising. His best estimate is that it would be done around late January," said Isaac, the last member of the Top Five.
Derek gave a small sigh. "Well...it's good to hear that regardless of the other setbacks, our major projects are progressing nicely."
Isaac nodded. "Indeed. However, I believe that we need to keep our enemies off balance. I propose that we initiate another operation."
"What would be the operation's purpose?" asked Cassie. Isaac grinned before putting in a command on his console to activate a monitor and reveal a large purple mobile suit with splashes of yellow and black. The suit's backpack appeared to look like moth wings and the right arm wielded a large black beam rifle.
"My agent inside ZAFT sent her report a day later than planned since security had been beefed up again but the wait was worth it. These are the blueprints for the ZGMF - X11A Regenerate Gundam. Personally, I would have chosen a better name like Black Widow or perhaps Scorpion, considering that its mobile armour attack mode looks like an insect." He clicked on another point to show that picture. "This suit also has a normal mobile armour mode to make it an effective fighter in space." Another click showed off the mobile armour mode.
"So your new operation is simply another mobile suit theft? How amusing. First the Bastard Alliance loses four suits and then ZAFT loses a few suits of their own," chuckled Victor.
Chuck let out another puff of smoke. "ZAFT would probably beef up security in light of the recent GuAIZ thefts. Does your agent know where the suit is located?"
And so the meeting went on into the wee hours of the morning, with plans being made to safely 'acquire' the Regenerate Gundam.
**********
Lowe yawned after flushing the toilet in his assigned quarters. Earlier, he had been roused out of his sleep by his bladder. He was about to hop back into bed when he noticed Eight's computer screen gently glowing and running some code. "Eight...it's three in the morning! What are you up to?"
The computer screen changed as it responded to Lowe. "Someone has contacted me. An Earth Alliance pilot by the name of Edward Harrelson."
"What?!?" Lowe remembered Gai telling him about a battle that had occurred between the Blue Frame and a variation of the Calamity Gundam known as the Sword Calamity. The Sword Calamity's pilot revealed his name as Edward Harrelson during that battle. "How did he know how to contact you?"
"Apparently, he had some assistance from a computer expert known as Jane Houston." Now that made sense. The Junk Guild had done some business earlier with Jane Houston finding suitable materials for a future mass production amphibious mobile suit. Lowe introduced Eight to her so she could have some assistance making some complex calculations and when the parties concluded their business, they exchanged e-mail addresses in case they needed to contact each other for future projects.
"Why is he contacting me at this hour?" asked Lowe.
"Edward said that at the present time, he and Jane cannot trust the Earth Alliance since they are intertwined with Blue Cosmos. In fact, over the past few months, they have discovered the secret construction of four new mobile suits. Three of them are variations of the old Calamity, Raider and Forbidden with the fourth being a mass production prototype based off of the Buster. And they overheard some of the workers talking about how these suits would preserve a blue and pure world. They want your assistance in stealing these suits and moving them to safety."
"...whoa."
"Edward will be getting his own Sword Calamity out of the Alliance and Jane will be operating the GAT - X255 Forbidden Blue. So they require someone else to pilot the GAT/A - 01E2 Buster Dagger, the GAT - X133 Sword Calamity Unit 01 and the GAT - X333 Raider Full Spec. Edward asks that you respond ASAP so planning can begin. End message."
Lowe simply read what Eight had told him again and realized that with this on his mind, there would be no way to get back to sleep.
