Faking It - Iceron’s Lair: Assessing the Situation, or “WTF AM I? [Episode 140747]

by Red Priest of the 17th Order

“Well...” Ranma started slowly. “How about explaining just what the hell I am?” He waved his tail for emphasis. “I certainly wasn’t anything like this when I woke up this morning, I can tell you!”

You are Lycan Panthera Pardus, a werepanther, The Crystal said. A form of lycanthrope closely related Lycan Panthera Onca and Lycan Uncia Parsus, or Werejaguar and Wereleopard, respectively. Your species favored attributes are strength and constitution. For special qualities, you can perceive your surroundings for an average radius of eighty-feet. And those are just your specific species special abilities. There are far, far more.

“Oh?” Ranma asked, his curiosity getting the better of him. “Like what?”

Lycanthropes are Exo-Aura Beings; magical creatures. The aura is external and enforces ribbon script on the physical form. Because of this, Lycanthropes will radiate magic as a magical being The crystal said seriously. Each Lycanthrope has access to three forms.

“Three forms?” Ranma asked seriously.

Yes, The Crystal Construct said. The natural or ‘Base form’, being human, and the secondary and most powerful form, animal. Transforming between the free forms is an action to those who have been taught to do. Otherwise, it’s a standard action available only once a day.

Ranma raised an eyebrow. “So you could teach me?”

Yes, it is quite easy Captain Saotome, the Crystal said. You just need to focus on your senses as they would be as human and-

“SWEET!” Ranma shouted as he suddenly shrunk a little. He then went to hybrid, to human, to hybrid, to human...

I see you got it. The Crystal said.

...to hybrid, to human, to hybrid, to human...

You can stop that now, Captain Saotome. A sweat-drop formed on the back of the Crystal.

…to hybrid, to human, to hybrid, to human...

Okay, you can stop now... The Crystal Construct said, somehow sounding tensed.

to hybrid, to human, to hybrid, to human...

CUT IT OUT ALREADY!!! The Computer suddenly shouted, rocking the laid; dust crumbling from between stones of the walls’ bricks. Ah, sorry about that... The Crystal seemed to sound embarrassed.

Having stopped at hybrid form when the large Magical Matrix had all but raised the decibel volume of its voice, Ranma stared at it. “It’s... Okay... Continut?”

Quite, Captain Saotome, The Crystal said seriously. You should also know that Lycanthropes can infect other humanoids with an Aura-Virus called ‘Lycanthropy’, which rapidly takes over a humanoid’s old aura with the Lycanthrope’s. Regular humans inflicted with Lycanthropy are also permanently bonded to the Lycanthrope, although an extremely powerful spell can breath the enchantment. Be warned though, should you decided to raise your ranks this way. Infecting another does not come without it’s price, as a successful infection drains the Inflictor. A victim can attempt to fight off the virus through force of Will. But if it’s a full moon when the Aura-Virus is transfused, fighting off Lycanthropy is twice as hard so you may want to strike then. Also note that while the domination can be broken, the Lycanthropy cannot be cured. The person is permanently a werecreature.

Ranma just stared up at the large Cyrstal. “Okay, first off, I didn’t understand half of that. Second, I don’t plan to turn anyone into... Well, what I am like that. Besides, I don’t even know how to inflict.”

It’s simple, Captain Ranma, The Crystal said. A harsh bite or forceful scratch will do.

“...” Ranma just stared at the computer-like magic crystal and said, “No. Now what else is there?”

Lycanthropes can also draw extra power because of their soul’s attunement to the Lunar Cycle. At Ranma’s confused look, the Crystal further explained, This means an increase to a favored attribute during a full moon. However, this connection to the Lunar Cycle comes with its own bane.

“Like what?” Ranma asked with a raised eyebrow.

That Lycanthropes are highly vulnerable to silver, a metal synonymous with the moon, The Crystal said, it’s voice sounding grave. Not only will Silver weapons cause triple the damage and make a Lycanthropes body an soul catch fire, but they have the possibility of killing a Lycanthrope in one shot, by completely disrupting their aura.

Ranma raised an eyebrow to that. Sounded like this weakness was something someone could easily capitalize on. “Any other ‘good’ news you want to tell me about?”

The Crystal was silent for a moment before adding, All Lycanthropes are immune to disease and magical diseases, such as Lycanthropy. Plus they cannot be effected by forms of drugs or poisons that would play havoc with the body.

“Does that include alcohol?” Ranma asked with a raised eyebrow.

Yes, the Crystal said in affirmative.

“Sweet...” Ranma chuckled darkly as he rubbed his hands together. “No more getting drunk on one cup ever again. None of those bitches can use it against me ever again!”

The crystal was silent for a moment. Will that be all, Captain Ranma, or may we start work on trying to resurrect the might that was once Lord Iceron’s Kingdom?

“...Okay...” Ranma said slowly as he considered this. “How about you start that scanning thing you were talking about?”

...Does not compute, The Crystal said in response.

Ranma rolled his eyes. “Scan for other weres, I mean. You said you could set off a scanner to try and find other Lycanthropes on the planet and possibly further?”

Correct. And it shall be done, Captain Saotome. The opaqueness of the Crystal left it as it went clear, giving Ranma another light show.

Ranma whistled as the Crystal began spinning about in mid-air for a few moments as it let off a rather audible hovering sound. “Spielberg would kill for these effects.”

Finally, the Crystal stopped spinning, the opaque luster returning to the glass-like state it had been. Scanning complete.

“That was quick,” Ranma said as he crossed his arms over his chest. It was then he realized he didn’t have his shirt. He’d have to see about rustling up some clothes.

It may have been awhile, but auras of Lycanthropes have not changed. The majority of werefolk on Earth are Weregrizzlywolves and the enemies, the wererats. Unfortunately, the rats outnumber the wolves with far superior numbers, nearly eight-to-one.

“So what does that mean for us?” Ranma asked.

Captain Saotome, the Wererats are outright our greatest enemy, and the Werewolves never helped ANY werecat species. Ever! The Crystal said with a feeling of finality.

Ranma frowned. Damn, if there was a huge amount of enemies... “Any werecats on Earth?”

Not counting you, there’s two Werecheetahs, one Werejaguar, and one Weretiger, The Crystal said.

Ranma his head. “How about elsewhere?”

We have much better luck with werecats in Jaden, The Crystal answered. Numbers are numerous and on the move and in condensed areas.

“So they’d help us?” Ranma asked.

Maybe. But it would be up to you to convince them, Captain Ranma, The magical matrix told the pigtailed werepanther.

Ranma nodded his head slowly. “Great. I’m not that good a speaker or motivator. I don’t think I could rouse legions of people to fight...” He blinked. “And who says I gotta fight, anyway?”

It is the law of Iceron. the Computer stated. His will must be followed.

Ranma snorted at that. “Listen you, I ain’t-”

Before Ranma could get another word in edge-wise, the Crystal started flashing numerous colors. Warning! Warning! Imminent Threat to Iceron’s Legion! Imminent Threat to Iceron’s Legion!

Ranma placed his hands over his ears to try and drown out the sound of alarms. “Damn it! What the hell is it!?”

Ranma was about to find out the cause of the alarm was...
