Right now, she (in female form) was in the middle of a huge brawl centering on his trying to get a kitten safely to the Cat Cafe. Ranma-chan was trying to avoid Akane's hate driven attacks and the cunning tactics of Pantyhose-Tarou, all the while striving to barely hang onto her sanity. Happosai would have a LOT to answer for for this one.
As Ranma-chan faked a leap then ducked and rolled beneath the fusillade of bandannas a newly arrived Ryouga brought to the party, she debated in a quiet still part of her mind whether Happosai was trying to honestly soak Ranma-chan with that long held cache of Drowned Girl and Maoniichuan water, or whether the ancient pervert was hoping for a bed warmer and perversity that Ranma would freak out trying to face. As it was, Ranma-chan had come within a cat-girl's whisker of falling into Neko state before using the hot water she kept in a thermos these days and taking off in search of Cologne. If anyone both could and would help prevent Happosai's satisfaction, it'd be the old ghoul Elder. That it would prevent others from trying to revive the Musk Kingdom's m.o. would just be a bonus.
A block away from the Cafe, Ranma-chan rolled left just in time to avoid a dragon-shaped ki aura. Happosai himself was in this now. He must have figured out what Cologne will do to him once she finds out. was Ranma-chan's grim thought. She prepared herself for the leap across the final street--
Pain! Ranma-chan was flying all right, in a straight line from where she'd been swung at by a telephone pole. She turned and glanced while trying to protect the kitten, and what she saw back there terrified her. Happosai's anger had been carried by the ki attack he'd utilised, and it had filled Akane to a true berserker fury. As Ranma-chan tumbled a few times then shakily stood gasping and bleeding from many scrapes, the kitten peed from fear. They watched Akane swiftly swatting the guys away, even her friend Ryouga. As Ranma-chan tried to edge back to the Cafe and save her charge, Akane turned toward them and charged, still swinging that telephone pole.
Ranma-chan couldn't even take the seconds needed to try to deny any guilt for whatever Akane was assuming this time. Ranma-chan was too busy trying desperately to dodge the pole, since Akane's elemental rage had her moving far faster than was normal. Between that, Ranma's now injured ribs, and the need to not injure the kitten, he was having a really hard time avoiding this newest addition to Akane's arsenal.
Ranma-chan almost snarled, but she managed to force the Neko back down. It was staring down the moon, though. Ranma-chan didn't have much time left.
As Happosai laughed at how deeply Ranma-chan was suffering, Ranma-Chan had a instant of seeing a oddly rippling 'echo' of everything behind the actual scenery. Cologne's arrival looked to be imminent, but in that odd instant of sight, Ranma-chan saw the old letch as a oddly bland man wearing black sunglasses, a earpiece, and a suit that looked like something straight out of that rap guy's movie.
She froze. The only thing that saved the kitten's life (and Ranma-chan's) was that Akane also evidently had that flash of vision, given her paling and looking at Happosai very closely. She dropped the pole immediately as she wasn't strong enough to use it for a weapon while calm.
Happosai looked at Akane flatly and said in a emotionless tone "Too perceptive. Now you won't kill Ranma. I'll just have to prepare your replacement." He then pulled a gun out of his panty sack..
