Ranma shrugged. “Like I said, she’s Ryouga’s cousin. She’s got his sense of direction. If you try to find her on purpose, or she tries to go somewhere on purpose, forget it. Not going to happen. Just let it slid. She’ll show up sooner or later, or one of us will stumble over her. When that happens we’ll make sure she knows about the bounty.”
He might as well have been talking to a wall for all the good it did. “You don’t understand. We have to find her! We can’t wait! I can’t wait!”
Akane had grown up with Nabiki, and her sister’s current behavior was ringing all sorts of warning bells in her mind. “Just why is it so important to you, Nabiki?” she asked in a suspicious tone.
“What, she’s my friend. Can’t someone be worried about a friend?”
“You once left Ranma and me stranded in a falling helicopter because you didn’t want to lose a bet,” Akane accused her. “You barely know Ryo-chan. Just what are you trying to pull here big-sister?”
Ranma had been slouched rather bonelessly back against the tree, but Akane’s words brought him upright. “The tomboy is right. What are you trying to pull, Nabiki?”
Nabiki darted her gaze between Ranma, Akane, and Ukyou, who was now looking at her suspiciously as well. “What? Nothing! You don’t understand how serious this is. What it could mean to m . . . Ryo-chan.”
The three teens looked at one another. Mutual agreement was in their gaze. Nabiki was up to something.
Ranma had been speculating on ways to initiate a little fun and games, here was a chance to kill two birds with one stone.
