So, she was pretty much shaking in her shoes as she sat down in front of her parents.
"I'm sure that you are wondering what this is about," Kenji told her, with a reassuring look on his face.
Not that Usagi saw it as such. "If this is about a problem at school, I'll do better!"
"It's not, honey. Though you really should do better anyway."
"Oh..."
"This is about... Well... I had a friend back in my younger days, and we were pretty close. The two of us were always hanging out together, and we had a lot of fun back then. We kept up our contact to after we both were married. But... well... we haven't had a chance to talk in years..."
Ikuko hugged her husband and smiled apologetically at her daughter. "Your father was close to his friend, and it was hard on him to lose touch."
"But we got it back! Well... sort of. But at least it's something. Now, the son will be coming here."
"He will?" the blonde asked. "But what will that have to do with me?"
"It will have a lot to do with you."
"To be honest, it's got everything to do with you, Usagi," her mother commented.
Usagi blinked at both of them. "Huh?"
"You see, you are getting to grow up, and become a young lady. Even though we miss the days when you were a small little bundle of life, we know that it has to happen sometime. And the fact of the matter is that we want to be sure that you're taken care of even after we go on from this life..."
"Which is why this is so important," Kenji said, "My friend and I have had an understanding, and a plan that we wished to have happen for a long time. Over the years, I thought that we couldn't manage it, but since I've found out what happened to my friend, and the family, I have been able to get it back on track."
"And that's where you come in."
"You're part of the arrangement."
"What do you mean?" Usagi asked, as she had a feeling that she knew what they meant.
"Well... We're..."
"Your father's friend's son will become your fiance," Ikuko commented.
"It's been arranged for a long time, and only possible until now."
"WHAT?!" the teen blurted in shock.
"Calm down..."
"Don't worry," her mother said in a soothing tone, "I'm sure that it'll all work out okay."
Kenji nodded. "That's right. But as it stands now, you are to have an arranged marriage to my friend's son,:
