Nabiki made sure to banish the imp before she examined the fruits of its mission. Idle demons never produced any good results, and she was not about to let impatience make her sloppy. Blackmailing Kenichi Saito had proven a challenge, and hopefully this latest sortie would produce better results. The problems with Kenichi was not, as one might expect, that he had not skeletons in his closet. Actually, one of Nabiki's first summonings revealed that Kenichi's great-great-grandmother had been Burakumin. This was too big a secret; Nabiki didn't want to threaten anyone with something she wouldn't actually reveal. Besides, Kenichi might do something dangerous to protect a secret like that.
So Nabiki was left in the odd position of looking for something less damaging to blackmail Kenichi with. Her imps had been less helpful than usual; presumably they wanted Nabiki to cause the most suffering, even if it was just anxiety. However, Nabiki wasn't about to be caught by laziness or carelessness, and stubbornly insisted upon continued searches.
Such inflexibility was much easier to maintain now that Ranma was in Nabiki's life. Any error in a ritual would just bring her girlfriend for an unexpected visit. Containment was still an issue, of course, but losing control of an imp was more of a minor nuisance than an emergency. Nabiki's biggest concern was keeping Kasumi from barging in at the wrong time; imps, unlike succubi, had to deliberately make themselves invisible to mundanes.
Looking over the instant pictures the imp returned with, Nabiki sighed. While Kenichi shouldn't take food from his younger brother's lunch, it wasn't a secret that would keep the boy from attacking her. Nabiki sighed. Kenichi, despite being a member of the kendo team, hadn't bothered her much, so getting dirt on him wasn't a big priority. However, she wouldn't feel safe until she could stop all of the other students.
Throwing the photographs in the trash, Nabiki returned to her book. Grammar wasn't especially interesting, but it could save her life. Demons would obey only the letter of any agreement and a misplaced modifier could change the entire meaning of a sentence. After this book was one on writing contracts. Ranma had used Nabiki's assumptions to fool her, and demons wouldn't be as friendly as the redhead.
Nabiki was pretty sure it was just a coincidence, but whatever the reason, her redheaded girlfriend appeared in the room.
"Oh good," Ranma said, "I wasn't sure if school was done."
"I'm glad you waited," Nabiki responded, "I don't want you bored again."
"Hey!" Ranma protested, "I promised not to do that again."
"Yes, you did," Nabiki admitted. "But that doesn't mean I like it when you're unhappy. Besides, I'd have to wait to do this." Nabiki leaned over and kissed the floating succubus's lips.
"Well, in that case I'd hate to ruin your school day by making you wait," Ranma said when the kiss ended.
"It was a pretty nice day," Nabiki said, thinking of Akane's latest encounter with her recently purloined panties. That ought to teach her sister about interrupting!
"I don't want to get in the way of whatever you're doing," Ranma said uncertainly.
"You aren't!" Nabiki quickly reassured her. "I was taking care of some business before, but right now I only had a boring book to read."
"Really?" Ranma asked. Nabiki smiled; for someone who could be so canny in the game of contracts, Ranma was an open book when dealing with emotions.
"Really," Nabiki replied. "Even if I was in the middle of something, I'd stop it to spend time with you."
"Thanks," Ranma replied, blushing a little. The redhead then darted forward, lightly kissing Nabiki's lips. Nabiki kissed back, and soon they had their arms around each other.
After a few more kisses, Nabiki pressed Ranma back far enough to start stroking under the redhead's breasts. "So how was your day?" Nabiki asked.
"Not so hot," Ranma answered. She spun around so that she was sitting in Nabiki's lap, then leaned back against her, the back of Ranma's head resting on Nabiki's shoulder. Nabiki took the opportunity to start stroking with her other hand.
"Couldn't get a move right?" Nabiki guessed. That was always what had Akane so upset. Well, when it came to martial arts, anyway.
"Nah," Ranma replied, as if she never had that problem. "It's stupid Pops. He's hogging the food now, saying I'm going off to eat on my own. He doesn't get that I'm coming here to be around you, not to eat."
Nabiki smiled. "That's sweet, Ranma," she said as she reached up to brush along the succubus's nipples.
"It's the truth," Ranma replied, wiggling at the new sensation.
