While passing the Gate Of Time to meet Pluto for tea, she'd taken a glimpse at her own future.
Nobody.
No one.
Nada.
The Senshi of Love's lovelife was more barren than four miles of Nevada desert.
In the oh-so-important/absolutely-must-happen Crystal Tokyo future - she couldn't even manage a relationship with one of the other Senshi. Danburite's dying words (a death-curse, though she didn't realize this part) about never knowing love since it might interfere with duty had held true and she saw a future where she never managed to accomplish any of her dreams and was alone.
The other Senshi had each other but were in largely the same boat. Ami never reached her dreams of being a doctor. Makoto had a few lovers over time - but all of those failed as well. Despite neither being lesbian to start, or having any interests in common, Ami ended up pairing off with Makoto from sheer necessity to keep the loneliness of centuries of extended life at bat. Hotaru ended up with Chibi-usa. Rei ended up having an affair with Mamoru long after Yuuichiro was dust. Rei managed a shrine, but it was a lonely one on the palace grounds that only the Senshi and the Royal Family attended.
Setsuna continued her lonely vigil, other than having a crush on Mamoru when she grew up in the future. Michiru and Haruka had each other, most of the time.
For the Senshi of Love, the most she could manage was a few hours of sex on a darn near ten year cycle.
Why had she jumped Genn like that? Despair.
As she saw it, just the fact that this hadn't happened before caused Venus some hope. That Pluto was trying to keep any of them from awakening the Prince increased that hope.
Here was her chance then. If she failed here, she would live 10,000 years with the rest of the Senshi and it would be a cold and lonely existence without a guy.
Which was not to say that she didn't have any sympathy for the others. Currently Chibi-usa and Hotaru were friends and neither found girls attractive at all, centuries of quiet frustration hadn't had their effect - yet. Ami still studied and pursued her dreams of being a doctor. Makoto still wanted to find a cute guy. If she failed here, then their fates would be locked to that future.
Which was what Artemis, Luna, Setsuna, Usagi & Mamoru, and the Outers wanted - the Crystal Tokyo utopia that was the only hope of mankind.
She hadn't gone to the others to explain her findings - Setsuna was not happy if someone so much as touched the Gate Of Time.
So when the various castle guardians and the uncute red dragon reared up and began fighting, Sailor Venus ducked around the side, climbed up the wall to the window, slipped inside and beheld her last chance.
That he was an utter hunk was icing on the cake. All it would take would be one kiss - she wouldn't be consigned to that lonely fate. Heck, she'd even share if it would help avoid some of that stuff.
One wall exploded as someone else entered the room, and not voluntarily - but Minako understood that this might be fate trying to keep things going towards that lonely destiny so she paid no attention other than hurrying.
The coffin lid rotated away as she approached, and she took a deep breath before hungrily affixing her lips to the Prince's.
They were lax for a moment before the church bells began ringing and those lips began to warm and respond to the kiss.
After a timeless moment, Minako realized:
