Genma was not as ignorant as some people might think of him, so he did know that some people did think that he had no way to make friends, despite the fact that Soun had been close enough to him to wait for years to continue a promise. That wasn't the only person that he'd managed to be friendly with. After all, he'd gotten close enough to Ukyo Kuonji's father to have him want to engage their children, had impressed Kumon so much that the man had wanted to learn his Art, and had even had a girlfriend before he went to marry Nodoka.

He could, and did have many friends, some closer than others. Though some people had be such, and were rather angry with him now.

But still, he knew that this person would remember him, and be still aware of the promise that they had made. Hopefully his old friend would have a child that he could marry his son to. There was a chance that it would be easiest if the boy still had his curse, but as it stood, he was not going to be able to engage the girl side to anyone.

That meant that he'd have to hope that there was a daughter born to his old friend:
