Ranma knew that his small reprieve was over, as he knew what his father tended to do. Whenever his Pop would come along looking like that, he'd always have been returning from a 'thinking time' when he'd be working out what would be the best ways to get something. Then he'd come back to the camp site, proud of himself for what he had thought up. And that would lead to something rather uncomfortable for Ranma.
Not that he had a problem with working himself as hard as possible in the Art, but he was beginning to think that his father's plans were not always the best ones.
Of course he couldn't exactly ignore his parent's call. "Yeah, Pop?"
"I've got a new line of training that you'll need to follow," Genma told him.
"Oh? What's it gonna be?"
"It's simple. I saw what you did with the fire."
"Huh?"
"You called up that girl, and made her start the fire. I saw it all!"
"Well... umm..."
"So now we're going to have lessons on how to use her!"
"Really?" the pigtailed boy asked.
"Of course," his father informed him. "And it'll make you much stronger. After all, what can go wrong?"
Beryl knew that her new form would be useful in this new day and age, but she couldn't consider the ability to use this form to do what they had to. Besides the fact that looking like the woman who'd come into the chamber would not quite work as the body had been altered, there wasn't enough power to go out and succeed in this world. They needed to create a power base, and that meant that they needed to create a place that could be used as a base to strike at the people, gathering what they had to in preparation for the day when they'd be all available for their final victory.
So, they worked to create a place where they could be secure, and ready to slip in amongst the cattle where they could gain the power they needed.
Fortunately, she knew that providence had been on their side, both with the secrecy, and useful forms.
Mars was not exactly a happy camper, as she knew that the man who was standing in front of her was a rather large fool, one who's idiocy matched his gut. He did have a bit of a good idea with the various sand bags hanging off of trees at different heights. However, he seemed to be unaware that she did know what to do.
The portly man would have to actually talk to her to find out anything about her.
"Now, boy, can't you change her?" Genma sighed. "I mean, can't you make her into a boy or something?"
"I don't think so. She was like this when I found her..." Ranma trailed off.
"I can't see why. We'll just have to figure out how to change her to something a bit more proper. Hopefully a guy, though we can be satisfied with an animal of some kind."
"I don't know..."
"I do, luckily enough. And since we can't do that simple change, we'll have to practice your firing. I want you to concentrate, and try to make her hit the targets."
"Okay... Mars..."
The Saotome Patriarch swatted his son's head. "No! You won't always be able to call out your attacks. She's a part of you, right?"
"That's how I understand..."
"Then you should act without having to tell yourself what to do!"
"But I'm not..."
"What? Do you expect me to believe that she can do it on her own. Listen to what I tell you, and just do it!"
"Okay... Mars? Fire Soul!"
"Don't you say... AIYEE!"
"Just for your information," Mars muttered at the man now rubbing his smoking backside against the ground. "I do have a mind of my own."
Genma simply flopped onto his back and whimpered. "Are you sure that you can't change her to a boy?"
"Not really," Ranma replied, finding something rather humorous about his father's position, while:
