Playing with a cosmic artifact to try to fix that disaster had at least a chance to make it worse.

Other universes and their timelines jostled as things shifted around.

In some universes such things manifested as a sock vanishing from the dryer, car keys that disappeared and then reappeared, and in minor alterations that people just shrugged off after momentary puzzlement.

In other universes, things had changed so completely that one familiar with the universe as it had been would have been completely flummoxed by the degree of alteration.

Which was why one could visit this particular timeline and find that:

• Instead of Jurai, Yosho is a Jedi hiding from the Empire and training his grandson in the ways of the Force.
• The Stargate found at Giza ends up sold to someone in Japan during the 1930s. Sixty years later...
• A young 14 year old gets a letter from the father not seen in ten years summoning to Tokyo-3. The name is NOT Shinji Ikari though.
• A young trainer begins his or her training journey to become a pet monster handler. Is it the monsters that are different, or is it the trainer?
• By the pricking of my thumbs, Something Else this way comes.
