"You had better transform," Luna whispered.
"All right. Mars power. Make-up," Rei said, holding her pen aloft.
Flames surrounded Rei and then faded, as she transformed into Sailor Mars. She tried the door and found it was unlocked. The two entered the building and soon saw Lady Bamu talking to a crystal ball. Several boys were standing around in a trance.
"Soon, Master Jadeite you shall have enough energy to revive Metalia from these pitiful humans," Lady Bamu said
"Good," was the response she got from the crystal ball.
The ball went dark and Bamu turned and saw Sailor Mars. She grinned wickedly, as she saw the girl.
"It is a shame you heard that. Now, you must die," Lady Bamu said.
Much to Rei's shock, Lady Bamu turned into the monster she saw in her fire reading. A two meter tall sickly green humanoid with fangs and pointed ears. Her eyes started glowing a hellish yellow, and her long black hair formed two claw like appendages. The skin of the boys turned the same green color and their eyes glowed yellow.
The Youma Bamu said, "Get her for our master."
The entranced boys started charging towards Sailor Mars. Rei jumped up to avoid the transformed boys and landed on top of a large statue. The boys gathered around the statue and started climbing it.
Pointing her fingers at Bamu, Rei shouted, "Fire Soul!"
A stream of fire grazed Bamu who managed to dodge most of it. Seeing the boys getting closer to her, Mars jumped off the statue and landed near a window.
"She's fast. Fire Soul!" Rei said.
She launched another Fire Soul at Bamu, who easily dodged it
"You'll have to do better than that," Bamu sneered, as she launched her hair claws at Sailor Mars.
Just before the attack hit Rei, a rose struck Bamu in the face.
'What's going on?' Rei thought, and quickly took advantage of the distraction. "Fire Soul!"
Sailor Mars fired another Fire Soul and got a direct hit on Bamu, who was shaking her head to clear it. This time, Bamu was destroyed by the attack. Sailor Mars looked up and saw a man wearing a tuxedo and a mask standing in a window.
"Who are you?" Sailor Mars asked, noticing that the controlled boys were slumping to the ground.
"I am Tuxedo Mask. You must become stronger if you are to help the Moon Princess, as must I. Farewell."
Tuxedo Mask jumped out the window and Sailor Mars noticed the boys starting to revive. Luna and the Sailor Senshi quickly left the rapidly fading building. At the Hikawa Shrine, Rei detransformed and punched a tree.
"I wasn't strong enough. I needed help," Rei muttered.
"It was your first battle," Luna consoled. "You'll get better."
Rei looked down at the cat. "Will I? What do I do about people being controlled by those things?"
"You'll have to destroy the Youma controlling them to free them. We also need to find the Moon Princess and the Silver Crystal."
Rei stared at her transformation pen. 'I've made my choice. I shall battle.'
Hovering above the Hikawa Shrine, Sailor Moon gazed sadly downward. "You'll get better, Rei. You did far better than I did."
Sailor Moon gracefully flew home and transformed back into Usagi.
"Mamo-chan showed up. I..." Usagi whispered, as she threw herself to her bed and started crying.
