"You made a bet, you fought, you lost," said the Advocate, hanging up the phone.
"THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!"
"This is a legal transaction," said the Advocate. "It's what you hire Advocates for. We're Advocates for the truth, for the society, and for the honor of all parties involved. If you wanted someone to lie on your behalf, you should have hired a lawyer."
"I DEMAND TO SEE A JUDGE!" cried out Tatewaki Kuno. "I shall clear this up in a moment!"
"Well, you can try," allowed the Advocate. "I'll make the arrangements. I'm still on your payroll for forty-five minutes due to the contractual obligation. The appointment will typically be between a week and two weeks off."
"So be it," fumed Tatewaki Kuno.
"In the meantime, as legal counsel, I advise you not to do anything rash that would further weight judgement against you. Pay the terms of the wager, be generous even, and it will be a matter of record to help influence things in your favor," said the Advocate.
"I see," said Tatewaki Kuno, nodding his head. "I shall just go before Akane and let her know the situation will be rectified anon."
"No. You don't want to do that," advised the Advocate. "Any contact between you and this Saotome or his property should be done in a completely professional manner. Use go betweens if you must. If it looks like you are trying to interfere with his business, this Saotome could use this to declare you an unfit master. In which case you wouldn't even be able to buy this Akane off of him should he tire of her."
Tatewaki Kuno did something atypical of himself. He fainted.
Perhaps it was just a late reaction to his concussion.
"Yes, I am Kodachi Kuno. The Black Rose Of Saint Hebereke. Star of the Rhythmic Gymnastic World! OHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHO-"
PSHHHHHHHT!
"-HOHOHO... ho?" THUD!
"Thanks. That laugh was getting annoying. Any chance that can be fixed?"
"I hear the boys over in Adjustment can fix all sorts of things. You got anything on her records?"
"Yeah. Apparently she assaults people regularly before matches so that her sports team can win matches by default. Money and connections protected her until her brother made this deal."
"Ah, that explains a remark I heard when we were sent out. Jiro's got a daughter who does Rhythmic Gymnastics, and she got assaulted awhile back. Banged up really bad."
"Jiro? Isn't he in the A&T (Adjustment & Training) division?"
"Yup. Interesting how in this job we can see Karma at work."
"Ain't it though?"
Ranma sat back and held up the card the Advocate had given him. Apparently all he had to do tomorrow was go to this place and he'd be able to get clothing and supplies for his new slaves.
He was also getting a fourth slave but he understood that might take a little while. Oh well.
