Akane Tendo and he were not yet a couple.
He had to make that the case, as he'd never be able to rest until he had done so. She was the one girl that he actually wanted enough to try to get. Sure, he'd never thought that he'd ever have a chance with any girl, but in her case, it was different. Out of all the members of her gender that he had met, she alone made him really desire something other than wistful fantasies.
After all, she had become the example of what he wanted in a girl. Akane had a pretty face, the athletic skill he'd never had, and an intense urge to protect those less fortunate than she was. Instead of the usual scoffs that he'd get when he wasn't being ignored by girls, she gave him a kind smile, and made certain to treat him nicely. She was sweet, generous, and had a body that was so wonderful that he could sit for every gym period watching her play. Her love of life, and 'never say die' attitude were so admirable that they attracted boys from all over.
And he had to have her be his girl. None of the others would know how special she was, what with a fiance who was always insulting her, and an upperclassman who treated her as some object to follow his fantasies. He was the only one who saw the vivacious girl for the special woman that she was, and he would try anything he could to get past his own faults so that he could get her for himself.
Yet, that cause would not be helped at the moment. Being in a dank and shadowy room was one thing, and he was well aware of the stereotypes regarding such places, but the fact of the matter was that he would have rather been elsewhere at the moment. He just didn't want to be there at all.
On the other hand, his parents thought that it would be perfect for him. They'd sent him to visit an old friend of his family's so that he could help out the elderly person with a few chores. It would get him out of the house, and give him something constructive to do. Of course, they hadn't taken into account that the person was a crotchety old windbag who had a deep seated distrust of any teenager's abilities. The family friend might have been heading onto the next life soon, but instead of putting affairs in order, it seemed that it was more important to be grouchy and irritable.
But then, being put upon was Hikaru's lot in life. Rather than winning the girl of his dreams, he was going to have to clean some dusty old storeroom for someone who was going to sneer insults from the deathbed. Even the fact that he had to clean the place with his meager strength seemed to be put into play merely to increase his already heavy burden. But a chore was a chore, and he didn't have to like it to do it.
Then again, he needed things like 'balance', 'strength', and 'reflexes' to be able to actually do his job, which was clearly not the case, as he tried to get a box from a top shelf, and wound up falling, pulling the shelves down with him. They crashed with a resounding boom, and he barely dodged getting his leg crushed. Groaning over his lack of luck, he sat up and looked over the mess that he had created. Realizing the amount of work that he'd added to his already sizable load, he crawled over and began to pick through the debris.
At that moment was when he saw the box. It was only slightly dusty, and looked rather expensive, almost like it was a high class jewelry box. Even though he knew that he should finish his work, his curiosity was peaked, and he couldn't help himself. He opened the clasps, and slowly opened the lid. When he saw what was inside, he was confused for a moment, but then he saw the note that came with it, he decided to read it. And in doing so, he saw words that made his heart thunder with excitement.

The rest of the words blurred in his vision as he was too overcome with joy to read them. Finally, he had something that could make Akane Tendo want to be his, and his alone. Nothing anyone would be able to do would be able to change her mind. She'd give all of her self to him, and would actually want to do so.
Just the thought of her sliding off her school uniform to expose her lithe young body so that he could use it for his pleasure made him giddy with happiness.
