Each original was in a sarcophogus-like enclosure. Each sarcophogus was connected to a vat.
Ecchi had watched with anticipation to see if her calculations and work had been correct.
When the first slender hand had emerged from the bubbling brew of the vat, she had indulged in the desire for maniacal laughter. Some things were required, after all.
Ten copies of each original was made before the pattern had been taken to the point where a mold could be formed. Mind body and spirit were all components to be poured into the mold and released.
Once the mold was properly set, the original could be returned to their home reality. A bit worn out, their memories muddled, but they would recover eventually. If Ecchi's math had been correct, doing more than ten would cause the original to take on the qualities of the dolls. Doing twenty and the fading of the original would be complete. Which might get a whole lot of people upset at her. Best to return them as soon as possible.
Ecchi Stokes had considered a number of names for the final product. "Alchemic Dolls" or "Girlems" or "Synths" or "Replicants" had all been worked out. She'd decided to put off the product name. Let that come after all the details had been worked out and she had a full set of warehouses.
Each of the dolls would be a loving and obedient servant to the person who awoke them. One of each unit was therefore bonded to her immediately after processing. She needed workers after all, and these would also allow her to test the process.
Ecchi had quickly begun drawing up departments. Research (Ami-2, Ritsuko-2) would look for ways to tweak the process and find any problems that were going to crop up later down the road. Procurement (Shampoo-2, Kodachi-2, Diana-2, Misato-2, Barnette-2) would track down and subdue candidates. Human Resources (Yuffie-2, Makoto-2, Ukyo-2, Meia-2) would return the originals when things were done. Manufacturing (Yuka-2, Sayuri-2, Miyo-2, Maya-2, Parfet-2) oversaw the decanting of the copies and preparing them. Warehouse (Tifa-2, Akane-2, Minako-2, Motoko-2) would see to the storage and training. Housekeeping (Kasumi-2, Aoi-2, Shinobu-2, Aerith-2) would keep everything neat and tidy.
