Ami turned over her wrist to peer at the face of her watch. "Guys, we really should be wrapping up here," She called over her shoulder, before doing a double take to examine a book on the shelf behind her. "Unlocking Your Psychic Gifts." She didn't necessarily believe in psychic phenomena herself, but after her initial encounter with Urawa so long ago, it was certainly much harder for her to simply dismiss the idea
"Almost ready, Ami," Usagi called back gnawing on her lower lip as she examined a nearby shelf. "Hmm... The History and Practical Application of Illusions for Umino... and Practical Black Magics for Enchanters for Naru, just for a lark." She said happily, adding the additional books to the titles Ranma had suggested.
"Just gotta pick out a cookbook over here," Makoto called in response to her blue haired friends remark about time. "Serving Your Friends With Grace and Ease. That sounds good."
"Hey Haruka, are you up for a little challenge?" Michiru asked pleasantly.
"Depends. What did you have in mind?" The short haired senshi responded.
"You once told me you thought I was too elegant to get myself dirty, so I'll get this copy of Beginner and Intermediate Vehicle Mechanics for myself, and you get this copy of Classical Music Made Easy," Michiru smiled serenely. "I have a flute in storage from before I took up the violin, if you're willing to take the challenge."
Haruka took a long look at the books her lover held. "All right," She agreed, plucking the musical book from her partners hands with a smile. "but only if I pay for this one."
"Be right there, Ami." Rei called, snapping the copy of The Advanced Field Guide to Supernatural Beings closed and hurrying to the counter.
"Mina, move it or we're going to leave without you." Ami called, absently flipping through her book.
"Coming!" Mina called, bringing her mental deliberations to a close as she snatched the last copy of How to Attract Your Ideal Mate off the shelf and headed for the front counter, ducking around Setsuna as the older woman knelt and pulled a book off of a shelf in the New Age section. "The Little Black Book of Divination, Setsuna? I thought you'd be the last person looking for ways to see the future."
"Sometimes it's fun just to change the way I do things." Setsuna smiled as she watched Usagi snag a sixth book off a shelf in passing before adding it to her stack with a firm and somewhat annoyed nod.
"Usagi, you'll never be able to afford all of those," Rei said, grabbing the last addition to the blonde student's stack. "Remedial Combat Training For Idiots By Dummies? Usagi, is this a joke?"
"It's for Mamoru," She said icily. "He is kinda useless in that regard."
The others nodded in agreement. "Tell ya what, since I've got some extra cash I'll buy this one for you." Makoto said, grabbing one of the books off the stack as the others quickly followed her example.
"It's good to see you have friends like that," Nabiki said almost wistfully as she and Yomiko began ringing the girls out. "I'm a little jealous."
"Don't you have any friends?" Usagi asked, counting out her change.
"Not really. Some business associates, but no... not one real friend."
"That's not true." Yomiko said passionately. "We here at the shop are all your friends, and what about Ranma? I bet he's your friend. So I don't want to hear you say that again or I'll... I'll... I'll hug you!"
Nabiki stared at Yomiko. "I guess that's what friends do, isn't it?" Yomiko nodded with a slight smile. "Then I guess a friend wouldn't mind, if I did this." She said grabbing the older brunette and squeezing her tightly.
