Anakin Skywalker looked back, rather emptily.
"Supreme Chancellor Palpatine is a Sith Lord?"
"Well, that's what he said, sir. I can't think of any reason he'd say such a thing if it wasn't true..."
Mace Windu looked at him again. And gulped.
Several of the other Jedi looked ready to squawk. Literally.
"...Anakin Skywalker..."
"Yessir?"
"If this is your idea of a joke..."
Anakin shrugged.
" - Nosir. What's the point?"
Mace Windu had no idea, but there had to be one someplace...
"...This...this...Anakin. Maybe the Chancellor was just playing some ill considered prank on you?"
"I don't think so, sir. He showed me...stuff. He also told me about another Sith Lord who I think was his Master or something. - Do Sith miss their Masters too, sir?"
Windu grimaced, stumped.
"...I have no idea. Damnit... Do you know just what kind of hornet's nest you just opened up, Anakin Skywalker?"
"- You'd rather not have known, sir?"
"I didn't say that, damnit!"
And why oh why oh why why why was Master Yoda not here, now, of all times...
Windu groaned. First things first.
"Very well then, we shall proceed with caution, and thank you, Anakin. ...Now go take a nap, that's a good boy."
The young man's Force patterns looked utterly odd beyond belief. The haziness, and... If he didn't know better, he would have thought that one Anakin Skywalker's Force levels had just been halved in the space of an hour, or something.
"...Lots of caution, sir?"
"Of course, Anakin Skywalker. No Jedi should take on a possible Sith without the utmost caution, you should know that."
Though since this was one Anakin Skywalker...
"Alright, sir. G'night, then?"
"...Ahh, yes, yes, goodnight..."
Windu looked at Skywalker wander off to the lifts for real this time, dumbly.
And when was Obi-wan when they needed him, as well?
Mace Windu looked at his camarades in arms, all from different species. They looked back.
Counceller Palpatine a Sith Lord?
None of them had that much imagination...
"...The boy's gone bonkers."
"Maybe, maybe not. We will proceed with the utmost caution, nontheless."
Anakin Skywalker, on the other hand, was being possessed of a strong impluse to get his wife and their unborn child and convince her to head off off-planet with him, ASAP.
...Just in case.
