"Mmm," Setsuna said in a cautionary tone.
"What," Nabiki asked cautiously.
"Mind your thoughts," Setsuna warned. Nabiki nodded, understanding as the bond was getting stronger. "But it's close enough to happening for my personal precognition to see it. Kodachi is going to be disowned. Or at least it will be attempted."
Nabiki started and then frowned. She was going to have to tell Ranma and Ukyou at least, they were going to be very angry. Nabiki was angry herself, and she hadn't quite caught up to same level of bond with the other girls yet.
"That makes things difficult from another regard," Nabiki said.
"I have my own resources," Setsuna said. "Rather vast resources. Including some legal resources..." She smiled secretively, and Nabiki didn't need the bond to know what Setsuna was planning to use those resources for.
"Hmmm," Nabiki said, returning Setsuna's smile with her own characteristic smirk. "And I may just have come up with a plan to..." Nabiki twitched a little as echoes of what was happening in the dojo hit her mind. She felt a desire to go and join the festivities for a moment, but fought it down. She couldn't spend all her life having sex after all.
"You were saying," Setsuna reminded Nabiki, stroking the younger girl's cheeks and shifting her seat closer. Nabiki blushed and then shook out her head as Setsuna smiled indulgently at the flustered girl. She returned to her tea and her usual business-like manner.
"I was saying that we could always try...adoption," Nabiki said, less quick to recover from the light teasing than she would have expected herself to be.
"Adoption?" Setsuna said, pondering the suggestion. "Hmmm, adoption into the one or another clan."
"I assume," Nabiki said. "With this flu spreading, that this might turn out to be a common-place situation. It'd basically be a return to the old concubine laws."
"Those weren't particularly nice times," Setsuna said, speaking from experience. That fact leaked across the link and made Nabiki slightly curious about her new family-member. Well, time enough for that later.
"In any case," Nabiki said. "What does it matter what the rest of the world thinks? Even if the law sees us all as sisters, or if everybody knows what's really going on...we know the situation. And the law will give us status as official family."
"It still leaves the question as to who the wife will be," Setsuna said. Then she nodded and hmmed, as she considered something.
"Mrs. Ranma Saotome," both women said together, smiling.
"Which could be any of us," Setsuna said.
"At any time," Nabiki agreed.
