Life. Michiru's Life. Michiru's life with the responsibilities of being a Senshi seemed to become more hellish by each passing day. Michiru's forced maintenance of a secret that she much preferred to have in the open was being consistently assaulted by the nightmare of dealing with the rest of the Senshi. Simply put, it was the life of Michiru, and, sometimes, it royally stank. This was not what a lady should have to put up with, ever...
It was another meeting, and another chance for Sailor Uranus to embarrass her. Worse still, the meeting was at their apartment; which, coincidentally, did nothing for appearances. With Setsuna and Hotaru each getting a bedroom, her or Uranus was going to either share a room or a couch, and that couch was uncomfortable. Keeping her marriage a secret from her school was a necessity, but why Setsuna thought it best to keep that little tidbit of information away from the rest of the group was beyond her. Okay, the Princess might blow her cover to someone from the school, but that could be fixed, right? Maybe the inners would have less fun with the truth than with the speculation they currently enjoyed, and spend more time pondering Setsuna's comings and going. Regardless of the reasons, Michiru was just plain tired of the strange looks from her team-mates. Yes, life for one Saotome Michiru was, indeed, hell.
Slumping her shoulders with the indignity of it all, Michiru helplessly watched as Makoto fidgeted under Uranus's scrutiny.
"Why dear, you'll make a wonderful mother one-day," the supposed hunter of the Talismans doted, "why you have such a lovely figure. Doesn't she, Michiru?"
Before Michiru could do anything rash, the phone rang. At least temporarily, her apartment was saved from the cleaning power of a "Deep Submerge."
Michiru hoped that she didn't sound as exasperated as she felt over the telephone as she answered it, "Moshi-moshi."
On the other end of the line was none other than Tendo Nabiki, and soon Michiru's exasperation turned to exhilaration. "He is," she briefly stated with glee, ignoring the looks from the other Senshi. She felt her heart pounding at the news. He was coming back to her; well, Ranma was being drug to the Nerima district, but that was close enough. She and her husband were about to be re-united.
Then, the person on the other end of the phone asked the question that equated to a car crash, "Is everything straightened out?"
Despite every ounce of self-control she had, the answer came forth in a tone that sent shivers down the spines of the guests in her home, "Damnit, no, it's not fixed. It's even worse than before. No, don't ask, I'm not at liberty to say. Yes, I will tell him everything." Idly, she wondered about those around her, and looked to see the reactions.
Minako sweat-dropped. Rei appeared nervous. Usagi was using the diversion to grab yet another tea-cake from the platter. Setsuna appeared normal, except for the single raised eyebrow. "Yes," she thought, "it's time to end this silly charade."
"Nabiki, dear," Michiru leveled her voice, "we're on our way."
Then, mustering every bit of her courage, she put an end to all the speculation about her preferences, the veil of secrecy sworn to the senshi of time, and all the misunderstandings about her reactions to Uranus's behavior. As an added bonus, she got to burst that make-believe bubble Uranus hid her age behind. Michiru found a bubbly feeling welling up inside her chest; the blown cover would be most enjoyable. The endgame was all done within a few seconds; in fact, it gave her just enough time to grab her purse on the way out the door...
"I'm sorry everyone," Michiru began, then shifted her gaze towards the Senshi of Uranus, "I fear that Mother and I... Oh, I mean Nodoka and I must be going to greet my husband on his return from China."
The entire group, save for Setsuna, appeared stunned; each having glossed over eyes. Michiru was enjoying this; the Senshi of Time be damned. Then to make things worse, she added a last detail while opening the door, "Mother-in-law, I don't think Ranma will appreciate it if you try to convince any of the Tendo's to be his mistress. He'll get more than enough of that when we get home."
Michiru didn't expect the news to be lost on Nodoka; but the Senshi of Uranus was far more concerned about seeing her son than any warning given from Michiru. From what Michiru could tell, her mother in law seemed to be glowing from the announcement; well, that was before she tried to barrel over Michiru to get out of the door.
The rest of the senshi, now even Setsuna, were slack jawed, as Michiru closed the door behind her. "Yes," she thought, "things are about to get interesting."
Then, almost as an afterthought, Michiru popped the door open and evenly stated, "Setsuna, make room for my nighttime thrashing, sleep-fighting, bed-hogging, mother-in-law in your bedroom. Oh, and one more thing, I would really appreciate it if you could find a school by-law regarding student marriage. I'm sure you can find some loophole."
With that, Michiru gently closed the door behind her, while...
