Dumbledore's Gambit: Wandering in the night (Ver.2) [Episode 148657]

by Linnara

Four wands, raised against the raging storm. Lightning illuminated tight and scared faces, robes soaked in the howling wind and rain.

It was time.

Hazama Kuroo woke up with a groan, making Ralgo turn over and Pinoco mutter in her sleep.

4:17? Damn.

And why was he remembering...That, now?

He hadn't been able to find a suitable room for himself, so he'd opted to transfigure a bed and sleep in the same room as Pinoco and the dog--this wasn't the first times he'd shared quarters with his foster-daughter-and-assistant by any means, of course, but this situation was bizarre to say the least, even for him.

What the hell have you gotten me into, old friend...?...

Oh, the hell with it. He had better things to do then just toss and turn in bed, anyway.

Three false turns later, Kuroo managed to locate the washroom at long last. The baths didn't look to shabby, either.

...Well...Maybe later.

Angling back through the "Living Room", he was amused to see that one of the Snapes was gone, to be replaced with two more even more tired-looking versions of the same.

Ahh, well.

It's not that he could actually read Time-turner "flow-lines" all that well, but it wasn't that hard to see which of the five--yes, five--Snapes was the most rested, or at least least tired.

...All right, now, Hazama Kuroo, you are an adult, or supposed to be one anyway, and...

Oh, what the hell.

"...Snaape, Snaape....Lucius Malfoy's sister is here to seee youuuu...."

The reaction was better--or worse--then he had ever dreamed.

"....--Aaaaarghhhhhhhhhh!....Wha...Whe..."

Hazama Kuroo groaned, looking at the croaching body and wild eyes. The other Snapes muttered and shook themselves, mumbling "Silencio"s.

OK, OK, Snape, now put down that nasty looking backup power focus...

"...Hazamaa...That was not funny, you bloody..."

"...What? Why, I thought you liked her fairly well. ...Malfoy's other sister, I mean?"

The way Severus Snape twitched at that did not make Hazama Kuroo happy. At all.

"...I don't think as her as "Lucius Malfoy's sister" to begin with, anyway."

Well, unlike Lucius Malfoy's older (by four months or so) half-sister, otherwise known as "She-Who-Should-Not-Be-Named (-Because-Who-The-Hell-Wants-To-Tempt-Fate-That-Much)" who had been an acknowledged illegitimate child with leave to use the Malfoy name (as well as being a thoroughly nasty and charming insidious piece of work in her own right), Lucius's younger half-sister had lived with her mother and her stepfather who had formally adopted her as well, making her connection with the Malfoy family purely a matter of genetics with either Wizarding or Muggle law, as far as he could figured out, so he could understand just where Snape was coming from here, but...

What the hell. Snape had liked that girl, even if it had been in a enchanting-her-chocolate-frogs-to-run-up-her-pigtails kind of way.

"...Now go away and let me rest since you've had your fun...Now good night."

Snape turned away, burrowing down under the covers.

...What had happened?

************************************

Hazama Kuroo rememberes, sometimes, in dreams or nightmares. Only rarely when he is waking, though.

Four wands raised against the storm and the lightning. Lily Evans, Red hair plastered against her muggle-but-enchanted rain-gear, green eyes looking grim. Snape, looking like a wet bedraggled crow the cat had dragged in, but still willing to raise mayhem, almost spitting against the wind and rain. And the blonde and blue-eyed kindly Hufflepuff poster girl, who almost nobody thought of as Lucius Malfoy's half-sister, even if they happened to know this little bit of scandal... And himself, of course. He still couldn't figure out how he'd been able to go through with...that. He'd been almost petrified with fear... He'd known what Lucius's older half-sister was capable of, first hand.

Perhaps even better the Lucius himself had.

He'd been in the same House as her, after all.

But anger and something that said to here and no more shall I retreat deep inside him had gave him strengh.

Though it was a bit troubling, perhaps, that he couldn't remember exactly what had happened that night.

Just how had they--bested Her--anyway?

But he does remember that they did.

And that, at least, is comforting, deep in dreams.
