So, she pulled the lid off of the container that she was holding, and smiled at the light steam that it was giving off.
"Growf!" grumbled the panda next to her.
"Oh, shut up, would ya?" Ranma muttered. "I already told ya, this is for me."
"Growf!"
"Do ya really want these girls ta see me like... this?!"
Genma opened his mouth like he was going to say something, but merely gave an annoyed snort.
That didn't matter to Ranma, as she had other things to worry about. Right then, she stood on the edge of meeting the girl that she loved, and she wanted everything to go perfectly. The possibility that she could be messing it up was something that she really wanted to avoid, and so she knew that she had to do something about it.
No hesitation was evident as she poured the hot water that she'd gotten earlier that day over her head.
As soon as he felt that he was back to himself, Ranma wiped the wet hair from his forehead and tried to straighten his clothing as best he could. Being wet was not fun, but if that meant that he could see her again as himself, it was more than enough for him. He wasn't someone who would complain too much about the little things, and this was better than having cold water sticking his clothing to his other frame.
"Alright, let's do this," the pigtailed boy said after taking a deep breath, and led the way over to the front door. Knocking lightly, he licked his lips, and hoped that things would not blow up in his face. He'd left his wife for too long by his own reckoning, and he didn't want to think that she might have been bearing hurt feelings from that.
But the vision that opened the door was far from the trouble that he'd feared. Wearing a simply elegant kimono, Kasumi stood tall, and looked out from inside the house with a hopeful expression, which turned to a small, yet caring, smile when her gaze settled on him. "Ranma?"
"Yea.... Yes. That's me," he replied, swallowing hard.
"Welcome to our home."
Looking at her welcoming expression, he found an odd thing happening. Tears began to form at the corners of his eyes, and for a moment, he could only leave them there as he took in the sight of her. However, once he started to feel himself cry, he wiped his sleeve over his eyes, and sniffled slightly before standing as dignified as he could manage. "It's good ta be here."
Her smile deepened, and she gave him a little bow.
He would have returned it, but he was choked up a bit... and then a tall man in a gi ran up and hugged him. "You must be Ranma!"
"That's me," the pigtailed boy replied, and struggled to get free.
"It's good to see you, my boy."
"And you are...."
"Oh, I'm sorry," the man told him. "I'm Soun Tendo, the head of this house."
"Actually, I was meant that you're holdin' me too tight and long."
"I am?"
"Father?" Kasumi gently admonished.
Soun let the boy go, and looked him over with a pleased expression. Then he looked up and saw something that he didn't expect. "A panda?"
"The big puffball's with me," Ranma informed them, as the animal in question grumbled lowly.
"But what about your father?"
"Don't worry. Ya'll see him soon enough."
"Is that so? Well, I'd expect him to be available like that. But in the mean time, why don't you come in?"
"I...."
"I can't take a refusal."
"I wasn't 'bout ta say 'no'," the pigtailed boy replied.
"Well then, let's get inside, so that I can introduce all my daughters together. Come on...."
"Ya wanna...."
"But, of course."
Ranma blinked in surprise, but let himself be guided inside, though he did manage to quickly grab and squeeze his wife's hand for a moment.
To the two of them, that was something special, and they shared a smile while:
