Faerie Flu: Escaping Passengers [Episode 149238]

by Kender

Cologne knew that she could never leave anyone behind if she could help it. For her, there was never any reason to hurt anyone simply because she could, and she tended to like to help when she had the chance. These girls had done nothing to others, and yet they were to be hunted for being who they were.

Though she did have to wonder about the two girls with braided hair loops, as they looked almost exactly the same, save for coloring. Yohko and Ayako Mano had apparently looked like twins, but were now as different as night and day... seemingly literally, as the former was a high elf, and the latter was a dark one. Then there were the two Azusa girls, who were similar in features, and in that they were both pixies. The grandmothers followed their granddaughters' examples, though the mother of Yohko seemed to be more of some sort of nymph, with that 'Chi' girl being a wood elf of some kind.

She didn't even want to consider what the depressed air around that Yui Ikari girl could mean, but the sky elf seemed to be rather... put out at the moment.

And there were others with their own stories, but she wasn't quite certain if she'd ever understand how so many people could go so crazy. After all, the people around them should have known that the girls were the same people that they'd always known, but they'd proven themselves to be as scatter witted as she'd feared. They let their misgivings take away their good sense, and had left innocent girls at the mercy of situations that no one should ever face. Of course, a great many of the idiots were male, as women were the ones who were changing, so she knew that they could be rather stupid, though she'd hoped that some of them had been educated better than that. There had been plenty of men who had helped their wives, sisters, daughters, and other female relatives and friends, but way too many others were proving that no matter how prettily you dressed up a person, they were not as civilized as they'd like to pretend.

But they were fortunate that there were those who had more intelligence and true emotions, for which she would thank any deity involved, as if even a ship's hold full of girls was possible, there was no reason to lose hope.

"Glad that things like this are happening?" Nabiki asked in a whisper without looking at her.

The Amazon elder let the corner of her mouth curl up. "I am. It means that the world is not going to total disaster."

"You know, I might be a cynic, but there is one thing that I have to say about our captain."

"Yes?"

"He's scrupulous about this, which proves that he's a moral guy, so far as someone like him can be," the middle Tendo daughter mentioned. "And if he can be convinced to take all these girls with little additional payment...."

"Do you think that he should have charged more?"

"I think that I hope that if he finds another girl, or set of girls, on the run, and whomever that is has only a little money, he takes that as funds to bring them over."

"You are a good surprise, child."

"I try."

That got a bit of a chuckle out of Cologne, who knew that she needed it. The times were too bleak looking for her to not search for some sort of light in the darkness. They'd all need to do exactly that, while:
