Ranma’s face turned pink with embarrassment. “…Er, what was your name again?”
“Kazuki. Kazuki Shikimori.”
There was an awkward silence between the two, with Ranma blinking his eyes several times. “Doesn't ring any bells. Hold on a sec." Ranma quickly pulle dout a tiny blakc book and flipped through several pages. "Okay, here you are. 'Kazuki Shikimori,' from the series 'Maburaho.' Er, maybe you should tell me more about yourself. Sorry, but at the moment, my mind’s a blank.”
Sighing heavily, more at what he had to say than Ranma’s lack of knowledge; Kazuki began to give a somewhat quick version of his story. “I come from a world where just about everyone can use magic. Each person has a limit to their magic use, though: it’s called magic points. When you use up all of your magic points, you die. AN average person can use magic only 800 or so times. As for me… I got 8 times.”
“Sucks to be you,” was all Ranma could say. However, this didn’t faze Kazuki as he continued his story.
“It doesn’t help that I’m dull, wishy-washy, unattractive, non-athletic, and get horrible grades in school. Hell, even the other students in my class are smarter than me, and we’re the worst class of all of Aoi Campus since we blow shit up and scheme for power, fame and money. My only good trait, and I pray to God everyday that it wasn’t, is that because of my family lineage my genes have the potential to turn my kids into super magicians.
“Herein lies the real reason my life is so complicated: three different magical families know my secret and each sent a daughter to become my wife in order to get my genes for their own needs. First is Yuna Miyama, who is also in my class and at least she seems to want me for myself and not for my genes. My only complaint about her is that she introduced herself as my wife, even though we’re not really married. This caused my class to find out my secret, too, and now the girls want my genes and the guys want to murder me. I was even put on trial by the class because of what Yuna did.
“Next is underclassman Rin Kamishiro. She comes from a very old and very traditional family, which is why she wears samurai robes and carries a katana. Unlike the other girls, she has no desire to marry me or get my genes. In fact, she’s tried to kill me on several occasions.”
Reminds me a bit of my early days with Shampoo, Ranma thought, And I’ll bet his relationship with Rin ended up similar, but not exactly like how my status with that Amazon ended up. No need to tell him any of that, though.
“Last but certainly not least,” Kazuki continued, “is Kuriko Kazetsubaki.” Suddenly, he paused. Exactly how could he simplify a description of Kuriko? Especially without a visual aide? “Could you bring up an image of Kuriko somehow?”
“I got a better idea,” Ranma replied, “I can just look into your mind.” He then put his hands to either side of Kazuki’s cranium. “Now, just relax, close your eyes, and concentrate hard on this girl.”
With a slight nod, Kazuki obeyed, closing his eyes and began thinking about his earliest encounters with the busty blonde bombshell known as Kuriko: accidentally running facefirst into her huge breasts, her pinning him to the floor and trying to undress him, almost always appearing out of nowhere and landing either on him or in his arms, her nuzzling close to him so he could feel her body pressing against him.
Pulling away quickly, Ranma panted hard as he felt a trickle of blood running down from his one nostril. The images he had seen in Kazuki’s memories were a bit of a shock. This Kuriko was like an amalgamation of Nabiki and Shampoo. He felt himself very lucky that this girl never existed in his world. He doubted Akane would have spared his life if she ever caught him and Kuriko together. “Hot damn,” was all he could say about what he had seen.
“You said it. Anyway, she’s more open about getting into my genes than anyone, and is probably the most powerful of all the competition. Hell, her last spell count check was up to at least 140,000.”
“And I thought I had girl trouble,” Ranma said, but more to himself than aloud. “Okay, I see your problems. So… what would you like me to do?”
At first, Kazuki thought long and hard about what he wanted his new life to be compared to his old one. “Could we take this at least one step at a time?”
“Sure thing. The more time you use to plan this out, the better.”
“First, I want to do something about my spell count. Can you make it bigger?”
Ranma rubbed his chin. “Maybe… if you don’t go overboard.”
“Well, then I shouldn’t try competing with Kuriko’s spell count. How about 25,000?”
With a snap of his fingers, Ranma summoned a clipboard with paper and a pencil. Immediately he began jotting down the request. “Everything has to be submitted to my bosses first before they can be approved and whatnot. Still, your requested amount seems fair. Next?”
“I’d like a backbone, literally. I’ve been pushed around and taken advantage of for far too long and I want to be able to fight back.”
Ranma gave him a somewhat sympathetic look. “That, my friend, you have to work out on your own. I can give you some self-help books if you’d like, but the rest is up to you.”
“…Should’ve known it wouldn’t be that easy. Still, I appreciate your offer and I’ll take it.”
“What about your genes? And the girls?”
“Actually, I’ll hold onto my genes for now. As for the girls, what can you do about them?”
“Well, there’s lots of things. They can all be removed from your life or just one or two of them, I can throw in different girls, or change their personalities, make them younger or older, make it so you and they know each other from childhood, or even make them your relations. And just as a reminder, you get to view how your life is before you make it your own. Like test-driving a car before you buy it. However, you can’t pick which girls to add/subtract or who gets what personality. That’s a random thing.”
Once more, Kazuki thought about his options before he spoke again.
