Clean Up: Recalling the Master's Way [Episode 149635]

by Loki-L

"Urd, telephone for you." Keiichi called out for the elder goddess residing in the temple.

It seemed that a mortal could get used to almost everything including taking a call by Kami-sama himself. Keiichi was not even shaking as he very carefully handed Urd the phone.

"Hello, father," Urd greeted.

Stepping back to give the deities some privacy Keiichi wondered what sort of trouble Urd had caused now to receive such a call.

Later during dinner Urd announced that she would have to go away for a short time.

"You have been recalled to Heaven?" Keiichi asked.

"No, Father has entrusted me with a very important mission here on Earth," Urd told them.

"He probably ordered you to clear up a mess you caused yourself," Skuld speculated.

"Skuld, don't be so mean to your sister," Belldandy scolded her. "I think it is wonderful that father is trusting..."

"It was not my fault!" Urd defended herself at the same time. "I made it a long time ago and I thought all copies had been destroyed."

"So whatever you are supposed to clean up really is your fault." Keiichi concluded.

Seeing the disappointment on Belldandy's face hurt Urd far more than the vindicated look from her youngest sister.

"It really isn't my fault," Urd tried to explain. "I just wrote this book when I was still young and irresponsible."

"Instead of being old and irresponsible like you are now," Skuld interrupted only to shushed by Belldandy.

"I was experimenting a lot with potions and other stuff that I thought could help me in my duties as a cupid of love and I wrote it all down in a book. I put all kinds of useful knowledge in there that could be used to improve a relationship. I wrote it as self-help book thinking that I could save a lot of time if I just gave mortals the book and let them work out their own problems. Teaching them to fish instead of handing them a meal so to speak." Urd told them.

"That doesn't sound so bad," Belldandy consoled her.

"It sounds lazy!" Skuld opinioned.

Keiichi who had been on the receiving end of Urd's attempts at playing cupid a lot was already a step ahead of them.

"What sort of knowledge did you put in the book exactly?" he asked suspiciously. "How to make love potions and aphrodisiaca? How to mess with people's minds and bodies? That sort of stuff?"

"I know much better now," Urd assured him. "I was still very much hung up on being a half-demon back then and still had problems with what was good and evil, but I have learned my lesson since then and I would not most of the stuff in the book anymore."

Keiichi was not reassured at all. Considering the sort of crazy schemes she was still willing to use it was frighting to imaging what sort of things she had done back then that she now considered to extreme.

"Anyway," Urd continued," I eventually saw the error of my ways and destroyed all issues of the book except it seems that some mortal made at least a partial copy. Father told me that the book has recently resurfaced and now I have to collect all surviving copies and clear up any mess they may have caused."

"That is very responsible of you." Belldandy said.

"Maybe somebody should go with you to keep an eye on you," Skuld suggested eagerly.

"No I think I better do this alone," Urd declared. "You are a bit to young for this."

After thinking about the implications for a moment Keiichi and Belldandy hastily agreed. Skuld was definitely to young to see some of the likely consequences of Urd's book having gotten into the wrong hands.

"So where exactly is it, that you are going?" Keiichi enquired to change the topic.
