Robotech Green Lantern: Bubble [Episode 149780]

by Disruptor

As Rick rested in his fan-jet, he heard a public broadcast.

"SDF-1 is preparing for space fold. I repeat..."

"Space Fold? What is a space fold?" Rick asked, shaking his head.

Request acknowledged. A space fold is warping space to traverse great distances in a short amount of time. It is usually done out of gravity wells created by planets to prevent any sort of mishap.

"Gravity well? Mishap? What kind of mishap?" Rick asked.

Whatever response Rick was going to get was cut off as the area around him blurred and went white. A few tense seconds and the blurring stopped.

Mishap occurred. We are now out near the planet designate known as Pluto. When the bubble of air and heat collapses, loss of life will occur due to decompression and exposure.

"No, it won't!" Rick spat out, as he started his jet up.

As Rick flew towards the SDF-1, he channeled his will and reinforced the bubble of heat and air with the might of a Green Lantern's power ring. A green globe surrounded the displaced space that the SDF-1 caused and cast an eerie green light over everything inside. Rick spotted an open bay door and flew inside. He quickly landed his jet, as the doors closed behind him. Gritting his teeth through the strain, he jumped out of his craft and made his way to a window and stared out.

"Ring, keep a scan up and tell me the moment that everyone is inside a space-worthy vessel."

Acknowledged.

On the bridge of the SDF-1, Lisa Hayes was reporting. The landmass below us is Macross Island. There is something keeping the air from dispersing and gravity normal."

"Get rescue crews out there immediately. Also link up with the Dadeleus and Prometheus and have tech crews make them air tight," Gloval ordered.

"Why not Armors One and Ten?" Claudia asked.

"The two carriers have Veritechs we can use," Captain Gloval explained. "We don't know how long the air envelope is going to stay up. We're not going to let anyone die, if we can help it."

"Understood," Claudia Grant replied.

Sammy reported, "I have now found our position. We are out in the vicinity of Pluto."

"Pluto!?" Vanessa asked shocked.

"As soon as everyone is secure, we'll just make a space fold back to Earth space," Gloval said.

A phone rang and Gloval picked it up. Captain Gloval had a brief conversation with the person on the other end. He sighed and hung up the phone. The captain of the SDF-1 looked at his bridge crew.

"That was Professor Lang. It turns out the fold drives have vanished. It looks like we're in for a long trip."

The various rescue teams operated quickly to save as many people as possible from death, while the Veritech squadrons continued their mop-up of the various Zentradei battlepods.

Rick Hunter stared out the window and kept concentrating. He shook his head as he dropped to his knees.

"Ring, what is the status of the rescue operations?"

All human life has now been secured two hours ago. Aquatic life has still not been rescued.

"I've been holding this bubble up for fish?" Rick asked in disbelief.

Yes. As per instructions: inform when all life has been secured.

Rick shook his head and let the bubble disperse, flash freezing the fish that was in the water surrounding Macross Island. He blinked and lay on his back. Due to the extreme mental exhaustion, he quickly passed out. About a day later, he woke up and looked out the window. He saw the now frozen Macross Island floating against the backdrop of space. His stomach growled.

"First order of business. I need food and drink," Rick muttered.

Rick used the power ring to do a quick scan of the viewed areas. The beam of light illuminated several fish. Rick used the beam to pull the fish towards the SDF-1 and through the hull of the ship. Rick then used the ring to scan the surrounding area.

"There's water. I should be all right for a few weeks," Rick said to himself and stared at the ring. "I need to practice more."
