Yet there was always a glitch or two in the works, and not always the furry ones his daughter Skuld took such delight and pains in bashing, as in this case. Kami-Sama was dialing the Hot Line to Niflheim for the fifth time (the others had gotten a busy signal) when he had a intuition on the cause of the supposedly impossible communications block. He therefore did not finish dialing, but simply hung up, picking the receiver back up when it rang instantly.
Hild's rather pissed voice yammered for quite a few seconds, although only Kami-Sama could interpret the Hot Line, thus any others witnessing the scene would have heard a pissed version of the voice of Charlie Brown's teacher from the old Peanuts animations. Kami-Sama took the diplomatic route and let Hild curse a bit to blow off steam, although his scowl was apparent even through the wince her abhorrent language induced in him. Finally he calmly stated "No, we just called at the same instant. Yes, all five times." He then waited for Hild to recover and doubtless down a strong one before continuing, "Okay, now that that's out of the way, I'll assume from your calling that you're aware of that Stenbuck boy disappearing from his home plane? I'm not responsible either, you know as well as I do we both agreed to the pact."
Hild's voice went on, as Kami-Sama considered her words and the situation itself. Leo Stenbuck, the 'sleeping' and evolving AI known as ADA, and the mighty and mightily overtasked Orbital Frame Jehuty had indeed gone into storage, each in their own way. Leo himself was wired up to ADA, who maintained itself and Jehuty in a readiness state not unlike 'stand by' in the personal computers of most worlds' first true surge of personal ownership of said devices. The entire storage case containing them was converted into a huge cold sleep container made up of components perfectly capable of reviving the sleeper, afterwards being suitable spare parts for ADA to retrofit into repairing/maintaining/reloading Jehuty as needed until the parts ran out. It gave the System Government a peaceful use for leftover Metatron too refined to render into less warlike use, in any event.
Unknown to any of those in Leo's timeline, of course, Hild and Kami-Sama had come to their own accord on the matter of Jehuty and its laborious journey. They felt that outside forces would likely come into play and ruin the time of rest Leo so needed. Thus they set up the pact, one the Ultimate Force had locked into place. The pact summed up as "No accidental outside impingement nor deliberate effort shall remove this soul or his chosen from his home plane."
And now, despite the universal edict of the Divine itself, Leo was now between realities. Hild was rather ticked, and Kami-Sama wasn't too pleased either. He reassured her "Now, now. this isn't breaking divine oaths, and I just scanned the Norns' work logs. Nothing in the Yggdrasil programs should allow for the terms to be broken. Let me check the time frame of the event itself.." With that, Kami-Sama's awareness was refined to even greater circumspection and focus, along with a piggy-backed observation from his ex-wife. What they saw had Kami-Sama wishing Midol worked on gods and demons of their stature.
It seemed that in one world, a very bitter and irresponsible Ataru Moroboshi had wound up in charge of a facility of great power, in a scene somewhat reminiscent of when Harry Mudd wound up in charge of a world of androids in that one Star Trek timeline. Ataru promptly went into his Harem Mode, having the dimension-spanning science of the facilities turned to kidnapping and reprogramming women. Sometime before he was stopped, one facet of the resulting changes tried to kidnap ADA, the mistress of the mighty Jehuty. (It seemed that Ataru wasn't all that cognizant of the reality of Jehuty's timeline OR the games several worlds' game companies came out with.) Since this wasn't deliberately going for the true Leo et al and was anything but accidental, the Ultimate Force froze up for a few nanoseconds. Thus it didn't cancel the kidnapping, but did prevent reception of Leo's rather dangerous capsule.
And as Hild and Kami-Sama griped over the line to and at each other about how they always seem to end up with these loopholes, Leo's still active cold sleep capsule emerged:
