For the past few days, the Serpent Tail crew has been in and out of the Eternal to get a closer look at the resources at that ship's disposal. In order for the new Alliance to function well, information on the resources of their allies and reasonable extrapolations as to how well their resources would work with your own is crucial. Kazahana Aja often found herself writing up these analytical reports for Gai to read later. From her report, Gai confirmed that the Eternal is only a support ship for the Freedom and Justice Gundams. He would need to ask Loretta to see what type of weaponry upgrades can be done for the ship.
It would be a little while before the Kusanagi returns so assessing the Orb battleship would have to wait. In the meantime, he, Reed, Kazahana and Elijah can comb through the Archangel and look over the legged ship's records. Captain Murrue Ramius accompanied Gai during his tour while Reed, Elijah and Kazahana visited other sections of the ship they wanted to examine. "Thanks to the recent system upgrade from Martius Five, our overall operating efficiency has jumped by... aw, geez! I forgot the numbers that Sai gave me!"
Gai chuckled. "No specific figures are necessary, Captain Ramius. I'm already quite confident in your crew's capability to adapt to tough situations. Your battle records have been most impressive and I can see a hardened resolve to reach your goals in every member of your crew." The two moved down a corridor to make their way to the bridge, saying brief hellos to other members of the crew who passed by.
The leader of Serpent Tail quickly glanced at the Archangel's captain. From the intelligence that Reed had been able to dig up, Murrue had suffered personal losses in the war. Her lovers to be precise. The first was a mobile armour pilot named Robert Digger and the second was a bit more recent. The infamous Hawk of Endymion and the last pilot of the GAT - X105 Strike Gundam, Mu La Flaga. To be able to carry on like this after such a huge tragedy is proof of strength of character and so Gai had a large amount of respect for Murrue Ramius.
His thoughts were interrupted when he heard the chants of 'Chug! Chug! Chug!' coming from down the corridor. "It seems to be coming from the mess hall..." Murrue made her way to the door of the mess hall and Gai came from behind her to see what the commotion was about.
A crowd of about twenty five Archangel crew members were surrounding a table. There were two men seated at the table, two cases of beer that were set up for the both of them and several beer cans littered around the table as they quickly kept opening cans of beer and drinking the contents. "What is going on here?" asked Captain Ramius.
Kazahana Aja squeezed herself out of the crowd of men and approached the two adults. "A drinking contest. Chief Engineer Murdoch against Reed Weller."
"Although I have noted that your crew has a hardened resolve, I believe your chief engineer is taking on more than he can handle. Reed practically has an endless appetite for alcohol," said Gai calmly as he adjusted his orange glasses.
Murrue smiled playfully at the other man's comment. "Really? Would you care to make a bet on it?"
Gai returned the smirk. "Five hundred aado that your crew member passes out before Reed." He held out his right hand.
"Murdoch can hold his own. I think he can outlast your man." Murrue shook Gai's hand and then moved in closer to watch the event.
"I say one thousand aado that both men will pass out in their own drool!" exclaimed Kazahana.
The male Coordinator looked down at his younger crew member. "No betting for you, young lady. Your mom wouldn't like that." Kazahana crossed her arms and pouted.
Approximately twenty minutes later, Gai was definitely glad he didn't allow Kazahana to get in on the bet as both Reed and Murdoch completely collapsed after their twentieth can of beer. "Well, that was interesting. Shall we get to the bridge, Mr. Murakumo?"
"Of course, Captain Ramius." As Gai, Kazahana and Murrue prepared to leave the mess hall, the female captain turned around to issue an order to the audience.
"Somebody bring those two to Sick Bay so they can recover. The rest of you can clean up this mess!" There were multiple groans from the men as they all mumbled a barely audible 'Yes, Madam.'
