However, it was more of a Generations setting than a canon one. The original Nova Prime had been named Richard Ryder and he'd been active in the late 70s-early 80s. He'd apparently retired in 1986, which was six years previous to Ranma Mizuno's now. Nothing had been heard of him since then and he hadn't been publicized as often as other heroes had in the meantime. Advanced Idea Mechanics had been around for some time, and was currently operating a number of "dummy" businesses in the Pacific Rim where research could be undertaken.
It being a Marvel Universe (or Marvel-verse), there was a fellow named Bruce Banner who had been a scientist experimenting with something called a gamma bomb which had hit him with some odd energies back in the late '60s when he was in his mid twenties. It being 1992, Bruce Banner was getting on in years.
Banner's alter ego was fairly stable at his current configuration.
WHOOOOOM!
Landing on a beach, the green giant scratched his head. "This not look like Miami Beach. Did Hulk take wrong turn at Alberq- at Albe- at city?"
Japanese beach-goers took one look at the nine foot tall gaijin with the green complexion and decided that while this wasn't Godzilla - he was close enough. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
A little girl pouted and started rebuilding her sand castle absolutely unconcerned about the large green guy.
The large green fellow took out the map he'd bought and scrutinized it. "Hulk no understand. Funny clothes person say paper show Hulk where Hulk is, but paper no make any sense."
The screaming and running in all directions crowd of mainly adults continued screaming, running, etcetera.
The little girl continued making her sand castle.
The Hulk merely sat down on the beach and scratched his head, brow furrowed as he tried to make sense of paper with funny scribbles.
"A HULK SIGHTING?!" asked Akane, eyes wide.
"Yup," said Nabiki. "So this is your big debut, 'Panzer-chan'?"
"I guess..." said Akane, a little intimidated. Her first real fight as a superhero and it was against the HULK?! She respected reputations, and the Hulk had a big (green) reputation.
Nabiki shrugged. If Akane won the fight, she had a line of Panzer-chan collectibles planned that would net her some serious money.
"The Hulk?" said Ranma Mizuno. "Oh man. Property values are gonna hit the toilet."
Ranma pondered the possibilities for a few moments before he came to a reluctant decision.
"THE HULK?!" said Rei, Usagi, and Makoto.
"You're in luck Mako-chan, he's tall," said Minako.
"I'm not into older men," quickly spoke up Makoto.
"But you like green, right?" asked Rei.
"That's a bit much," said Makoto, beginning to sweat.
"So, whatta ya think?" asked Ranma.
Ami couldn't keep a smile off her face. Not only was her brother not trying to protect her, well not too much, he was asking HER for help with one of HIS fights.
