Setsuna's Fault: Logic And Instinct [Episode 152188]

by Kender

It looked like SHE had a direct connection to Ranma Saotome now. In fact, she was his friend. Ever since she found herself lost in the woods, she'd kept in touch with this illogical and overemotional being. Truly an odd couple, but one that seemed to work fairly well. That was something that Setsuna didn't immediately understand, and she had to find out why it had happened.

Apparently she had gone out to the forest on some sort of research trip, and had gotten herself rather in over her head. Her homeworld was not one of any sort of verdant plant life, and she was not an explorer, so she was not one to know how to navigate in such a place. As a result, she had wound up with a rather sizable problem at that moment.

And then a little boy had come into the picture.

Knowing that wandering aimlessly around would not be conductive to helping her in this situation, S'tsuna sat on a tree stump, planning on considering all her options. However, when she saw a boy looking back, she knew that she might have a little trouble with that. "May I help you?"

"Maybe I should ask ya that," the boy replied. "Ya look like ya got trouble."

"You are correct in that. I have lost my way, and am currently lost."

"Really? So what are you doing?"

"I was about to consider all the logical steps that I had available when you interrupted me."

The boy didn't look to be at all put out by her words. "'Logical'. Don't sound so great."

"That may be your opinion, but intelligent thought always beats an emotional response to a problem."

"Not always?"

"Why would you say something like that?" she asked him.

"'Cause, if ya keep on thinkin' all the time, then ya get inta trouble. I mean, if you're tryin' ta figure out the proper way ta handle seein' a bear, ya'd be stuck just waitin' around when it comes over ta eat your head off."

"That's singularly... disturbing. It was accurate, if crude."

"Hey, what's all that book stuff worth if ya can't use it?"

"You... have a point."

"'Course I do. Ranma Saotome always knows what he's doin'... most of the time."

S'tsuna merely raised a brow in interest at him.

At the Time Gate, Sailor Pluto watched the exchange, and sighed. Apparently, his philosophy brought up a desire to discuss things with him in this version of her, and he started to provide a balance to her Vulcan logic. As she tended to try to think things through, and he reacted on a moment's notice, they sort of evened each other out.

And from that, a friendship was born. The two of them started meeting up again, getting to know each other, and helping each other learn what they could from the other. Slowly, it became clear that they were not just having 'fun', but were truly becoming friends with each other. He helped her from being so wrapped up in the logic of a situation that she forgot other things, and she helped him get a bit more self control. Over time, they managed to keep in touch, proving that they were not simple acquaintances.

That had some definite effects, but at the moment, Sailor Pluto was looking at:
