"Discipline them?" Ranma asked dubiously.
"Yes, discipline them!" Nodoka affirmed. "You have to show them who's the boss and make it clear that you will not stand for more of their irresponsible and childish behavior."
"I don't know, mom," Ranma thought that this idea would lead to nothing but badness. "I don't think this is a good idea."
"And why not?" Nodoka wanted to know. "Surely you are good enough an martial artist to overpower them if you really want. And I am sure that you are good enough to know how to administer some much needed tough love without actually risking permanently hurting them."
"Tough love?" Ranma echoed with a growing sense of disbelief and horror.
"Spankings for example." Nodoka clarified. "The next time one of the girls is about to get violent with a bonbori, combat-spatula, mallet or gymnastic club you put her over your knee and give her a well deserved bottom warning."
"I can't do something like that," Ranma objected. "The first time I tried to lay hands on her Akane would probably try to kill me for being a pervert."
"If she attacks or insults you, you will have simply have to punish her some more," Nodoka explained matter of factly.
"And what about when Akane's father, Ryouga, Mousse, the Old Ghoul or Kodachi's family come after me for hurting the girls. Should I spank them too?"
"I have already spoken with Soun and convinced him to give you a free hand so to speak with his daughters. I am sure a similar arrangement could be reached with elder Cologne and your principal."
"They might just be crazy enough," Ranma admitted. "Wait, did you say daughters?"
"Nabiki even though she is not a martial-artist is still responsible for quite a lot of the chaos. She really needs a firm hand to show her when she has gone to far. Kasumi is normally quite well behaved but it often are the quiet ones that one should look out for so you should keep an eye on her too just in case."
"You can't be serious," Ranma almost laughing at the absurdity of it all.
"I am quite serious," Nodoka assured him. "I don't understand why you are so set against this."
"A martial-artists is supposed to protect the weak not bully them and it would be wrong to hit a girl." Ranma informed her then adding a bit quietly. "If I did something like this they would all hate me."
Nodoka shuck her head sadly. "Poor Ranma. I guess it is my fault I should have known better than to expect Genma of all people to explain these things to you. But I thought you would understand."
Ranma just looked at her confusedly.
"You are a girl half the time. You should know how it is for them." Nodoka sighed. "Perhaps you are to much of a girl to really put your foot down with them."
Ranma knew his cue.
"No, No, I am manly, very manly," he hastened to assure her.
"Then you will do as I told you and try to take control?" She asked looking him in the eyes.
"Yes, Mother," Ranma finally acquiesced.
He still thought that this was crazy, but he would go along with it for now.
