“So, uh, whatcha wanna do, Setsuna?” Ranma said, doing his best to be nonchalant. “I mean, I’m not saying that we hafta do anything real big right now, we could, ya know, go for a walk, or ya know, get caught up on a few things, or somethin’ else like that…”
Setsuna smiled. Ranma was just too cute when he tried be subtle—namely because it rarely worked. “I’m not sure, but I take it that you’d like to find a secluded place where we can screw each other’s brains out.”
Her husband blushed at her directness. “Uh huh.”
Setsuna hugged the pigtailed martial artist. “Don’t be embarrassed. We’re married; it’s only natural that you’d want to do that—and to be perfectly honest, I’ve been wanting to as well.”
Ranma blushed even harder at that.
“However, I’d like to save that until we get to my home. In the meantime, we still have a few things to discuss.”
“Alright, but let’s put some distance between me an’ Pops—he won’t be out for long.”
Setsuna nodded, and was about to hail a cab, but before she could react, her husband had swept her off her feet and taken to the rooftops.
“Ya live in Juuban, right?”
Setsuna nodded as her husband zipped across Nerima.
After a while, she got his attention again. “Ranma, let’s stop for a while—we can get to my home later.” Ranma complied, stopping on top of small apartment complex.
“So, what did ya wanna talk about?”
“Well, let’s start with your curse.”
“Oh… okay.” That wasn’t the subject Ranma was hoping for. “What about it?”
“Do you really believe that there isn’t a cure?”
“Well, yeah. I mean, Shampoo said there wasn’t, and later when I talked to her great-grandmother, who turned out to be in charge, she said pretty much the same thing.” Ranma looked slightly depressed.
“Ranma…”
Setsuna’s husband didn’t let her finish. “Lemme guess, ya wanna call the whole thing off.”
“What?!” She hadn’t expected that response.
“I don’t blame ya. I’d probably do the same thing.”
“Ranma, how can you say that?!”
“Huh?” This was confusing.
“Do you really think I’d be so shallow as to let something like this ruin our relationship?”
“But why would ya want me when ya can get somebody normal?”
“Because I don’t want somebody normal. I want you.”
“But aren’t you worried ’bout what people are gonna say?”
“I’m worried that you’re worried about it.”
Ranma didn’t have an answer for that, so he just stared at his feet.
“Ranma, it’s not so bad. It’s not like this changes who you are… inside you’re still a man. Besides, how do you know there aren’t other ways to cure your curse?”
“Curses. I got two curses, both of which hafta be cured at the same time, or else nuthin’ll change.”
“Still, you can’t give up all hope.” After all, the Amazons don’t have access to the Ginzuishou.
“I guess yer right.”
Setsuna stepped up to her husband and embraced him. “I know I’m right. And even if you do keep this curse for the rest of your life, I’ll still love you.”
“But…”
Setsuna sighed. “Peace, I’ll stop your mouth.” And with that, she brought her lips to his. Goddess, I’ve missed this.
Ranma was still reeling when they broke off a few seconds later. “What was that?”
“Well, I don’t have my encyclopedia with me, but I believe it’s called a ‘kiss.’”
“Very funny. I meant before that. The mouth-stopping thing.”
“That? Oh, that’s Shakespeare. Translated into Japanese by yours truly.” Actually, she’d written the original English version as well (though she’d gone by the name of “Susannah Meier” at the time); Setsuna had always been mildly disappointed that Billy had never given her any credit for that particular line from Much Ado About Nothing. “Now, why don’t we head to my home. I can introduce you to my friends if they’re there—and if not, we can skip ahead to more ‘physical’ activities, if you catch my drift.”
Ranma definitely caught that drift. He grinned as he once again picked up his wife and headed towards Juuban over the Tokyo skyline.
